What a place. 3 of us were there for 3 nights as part of a Tweed fishing trip. I have nothing but things to say. were with tea, coffee & biscuits. The breakfast excellent. The & owner were very (we even got a 'tour' of the extension they are having built). The beer was good.....& then there was the food! Saved the best to last. Excellent, we ate there every night including Sunday roast! All the food was excellent, big portions & value. The haddock was the size of a small child! We will return as it is already booked for next Sept fishing trip & will be staying an extra night. Loved it. The front bar gives a false impression. Old and tired but are cheerful and welcoming. The dining area and are a more modern style. The breakfast was let down by fried eggs which should never have left the kitchen. Husband wanted to have a pint before going back to our B&B. Barmaid was very welcoming and there was a choice of ales. There were some salmon fishing rods across the ceiling which was unusual. The pub has a knit and natter group on Monday mornings and also coffee mornings - a really way to involve the community. Also it is dog friendly. Easy book in. Plenty of street parking.excellent bar. I was in room one at the front looking out of a bay window directly above my car. No problems with road noise. Twin comfortable beds. The room is as as any i have stayed in and I've stayed in a lot. Very hot shower a kettle and a 32 inch tv. A big restaurant at the back and a large beer garden. There is also a new build of on the ground floor next to the beer garden.i stayed in one of these last year and they were quality. Breakfast was included and was enormous. Norham has a castle the place is steeped in history plus there is salmon fishing 300 yards behind the hotel. The masons arms is wheelchair and the are absolute magic. A very enjoyable which left a impression on me. Close to berwick and ideal for visits to anick and lindisfarne and seahouses all within 20 miles. No bad points well run clean food. Comfortable environment, wonderful hospitality and got beautiful art work around the rooms, with a open fire place Stopped for a pint on our bike ride. Sat outside. Person serving the beer could maybe smile a bit? landlord came out and gave us cushions to put on the metal chairs Spent two nights. Had downstairs Slept in on first night, really sleep. Annoyed that they like to finish early for breakfast 8:30. It's a weekend break, who wants to get up early ? Meal selection is not massive, but it was fine. Breakfast is confusing, no menu. So missed porridge option, heard someone ask for it, whilst eating full English. On 2nd day Fabulous pub with rooms, who fitted us in with very short notice for a very room and later dinner. Very smart ensuite shower room, well equipped with shower gel, cap and large mirror. Super king bed -very comfortable- with lighting for reading plus sensor lights if you get up during the night. Plugs have USB slots by bed and near shelf. Coffee, tea etc on tray with decent sized cups and glasses. Wardrobe and lots of drawers. Breakfast good, choice of cereals with large jug of milk on table. Juice and fruit too. Special mention of sausages, much enjoyed. Friendly and helpful and owners. All in all, a place !
