Most spectacular waterfall, great that you can behind the flowing water. Not had much rain lately but definitely a great show. Little busy then we hoped. Need to wear decent footwear, saw people in dressy shoes and flipflops, as the terrain is gravely, rocky and stoney. Highly recommend It's a great place to visit, but busy. The from Penderyn is quieter than the other routes and is a nice route largely on good gravel paths apart from a couple of short sections which are a little muddier. We chose this for our very first in Wales. I travelled from Taunton, which took around two hours by car. The journey was mostly along dual carriageways, passing through Bristol. The final stretch was along a rural road, narrow enough that two cars could only pass with care. Parking The car park Cwm Porth - Four Car Park where we stopped was well equipped with changing rooms, toilets, a small shop, and a coffee shop serving sandwiches. The capacity wasn’t very high, so on bank holidays it’s best to arrive early to secure a space. There is, however, another car park nearby as a backup. The Trails The area offers two marked trails – red and green. Completing both takes around four hours in total. The red route is a loop. To see four of the waterfalls, you’ll need to leave the main trail, descend around 200 steps, and then climb back up afterwards. The green route is an out-and-back path. You follow it to see two waterfalls, then retrace your to rejoin the main and complete the route. Waterfalls There are four if you cover both the red and green routes. The first one is tall and set at a distance – you can view it from afar, though a few people managed to find a way closer. The second and third waterfalsl are on the green route. I even saw a group of teenagers diving into the pool at the base and swimming. The final was, in my opinion, the most spectacular. By that point you’ve already completed more than two-thirds of the trail, so the decision to descend the and climb back up again isn’t an easy one – but I strongly recommend it. The effort is absolutely it. After visiting this last waterfall, it takes about half an hour to return to the car park. Difficulty The main route itself is fairly easy and takes about two hours, which makes it moderate overall. Adding in the three stair descents to visit the raises the difficulty to moderate–hard, especially when combined with the length of the walk. Recommendations Avoid visiting during busy times, as it’s harder to enjoy the scenery with large crowds. Wear proper walking shoes – they don’t need to be technical, just comfortable for long distances. Bring plenty of and a hat, as some parts of the are exposed to direct sun. Absolutely stunning. Parking was £6 for all day and there was a butty van and toilets were we parked. Sgwd Yr Eira is absolutely stunning and definitely the hike. The is powerful and unique because you can actually behind the curtain of water, which makes it a really magical experience. The down is a bit and can be slippery in places, so good shoes are a must, but it’s manageable if you take your time. The scenery along the way is beautiful, with forest trails and streams that add to the adventure. Out of all the in the Brecon Beacons, this one is the most memorable. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Country. This is the best to visit of the four on the trail. It is large, easy to get to with very developed stairs, and you can go underneath. The rocks are surprisingly grippy when walking under the fall. It also allows you to cross the river. Don't miss this one. This is probably the most impressive of the four which you can even get behind! We did the so we did this first as it can get very busy. But it was lovely and quite probably down to it being a Monday and in the colder seasons. It’s a magnificent and so impressive. Being able to get next to it and behind it really shows the power of the water! The down to this is made up of steep/tall which has recently been worked on and are much safer. This is hard going if your legs are weak especially your thighs. But the reward is it if you are able to push through. It is just as hard on the way backup as it’s the same you come down. The rocks leading to the back of the are fairly grippy but I was in proper walking boots I’m not sure how other footwear would fair on them. If you are able to down to this it is so it, it really is beautiful and this time of year in the week there’s hardly anyone there. Very beautiful scenery, and an enjoyably challenging walk. Saw a lot of people not best prepared. The full lap from car park past all and back is nearly 10km and takes a good few hours with some gradients and unstable ground. New place to explore, gorgeous scenery but not for the faint hearted. This took a few hours to go around and did not see it all.. Got round to three of The main waterfalls. Very hills to decend and later climb. There's a few resting spots along the way which are great for anyone with difficulties. We got to the late afternoon and made a slight mistake pushing through till around 4.45 pm as the way back was then covered in darkness but the quiet was actually comforting rather than spooky as we were the last to leave. I'll definitely be returning to explore more of this beautiful Valley. The scenery was beautifully the fresh air did me the world of good and the were the hike. But next time I'll be doing it with some treats and water, rather than just my trustee Starbucks. Unfortunate that there are a few signs to say about being careful as there have been loss of life along the way, so stay away from the edges as best as possible. Stay safe the photo ops just aren't the risk. Great but down to the are very large and a killer on the legs. Be aware that the to the isn't a loop and you need to go back the way you came or you end on the wrong side of the river. Bit of a trek to see the (none are visible from the main path), and some of the routes to the four are somewhat treacherous... There are other, better in the general area which are more easily accessed and don't charge for parking either! Absolutely beautiful! Well a visit. The views and all the are amazing. The last is the best, in my opinion. You do have to go down 170-something but it's it when you get to the bottom, getting back up them is the fun part, take water! Beautiful walk, be ready for the steps! All 175 on the way back up from the waterfall. Be warned there is very limited parking availability and the warden will turn you away when it's full ... An absolutely stunning waterfall! honestly heaven on earth! At first, you might see all the stairs and think about giving up, but please don’t. Every step and every bit of breathlessness! is it once you get to the bottom. I also highly recommend going behind the waterfall. Yes, you’ll get wet, but it’s 100% it . the view from there is one of the most magical things I’ve ever seen. Truly unforgettable. And if you don’t fancy the full 4-hour to see all four waterfalls, you can just go straight from the car park to this last one. You’ll still see the best of them without the long hike, then head back to the parking. Following a breathtaking through stone, wood, mud, many stairs & a forest full of magical birds & wildlife to see the Six Waterfalls. Breathtaking it certainly was and dog friendly. Gorgeous along the Four Trail, which is a relatively strenous 4 hour walk. Strenuous down to Sgwd Yr Eira (170 steps) but definitely it!! Shame people can carry their picnics down to the but can't take their rubbish back home with them 😭 Beautiful waterfall, where you can go behind the but I was to scared but others in my group did and really enjoyed the experience. The 160 down to the and back up wasn't as bad as I thought it would be - plenty of rest breaks though!!!! This was one of the 4 on a circuit in the Brecon Beacons but we only managed two - Sgwd Yr Eira being the best in my opinion. Visited on a hot Monday in August and wasn't too busy. Car parking £6 for the day; there are portable toilets but they're not very clean!! Enjoyed the days outing to see the but found it a bit hard going for my friend, who suffers from fibromyalgia. We parked Gwan hepste car park (£6) and walked from there. Once you reach marker 6 the does go quite downhill. Yet we carried on to reach Sgwd Clun-Gwyn. Before making our way to Sgwd Yr Eira, using the top from marker 46, to save time. The is amazing and certainly the 4 flights of down! Where we just sat enjoying the sound of cascading water. We found out later on the way back. If all anyone wants to do is to head straight for the best of the waterfalls. Head from marker 6, to the unmarked on your left (you can see it on the map as a white road, see pic) it will lead straight to this waterfall, through some pretty woodland, without the all those sharp inclines. Just an eye out for the fork in the road. Which will double back towards the right and downwards, which you can see on map. You will then be back on the same red routed ( 40) and be a lot less exhausted. The main thing is to enjoy the scenic and this amazing you can touch. Wear grippy shoes!!! The are gorgeous and the nature is great. The definitely isn’t the hardest, but can be challenging, as it can be steep, slippery and a little sketchy in the tougher places, so proper footwear is essential. Took my gf here without proper shoes and I’m lucky this didn’t end my relationship! After a long and very uphill hike from Dina's rock this stunning along with amazing views during the hike was well the effort. With it being summer holidays it was busy but everyone was very respectful and was still peaceful.
