Scenic view, it’s cloudy when we came here, but still beautiful, thank god there is no raining. car fares are 50% off with STP. 📍 Oeschinen Viewpoint (Oeschinensee Aussichtspunkt) 🇨🇭 Kandersteg, Switzerland One of the most breathtaking alpine in Switzerland. The viewpoint offers sweeping panoramas of turquoise Oeschinen, framed by rugged mountain peaks and lush alpine meadows. The here is moderately steep but well-marked, with rewarding photo opportunities throughout. 🕒 Tip: To enjoy the best visibility of the surrounding peaks, plan to reach the viewpoint before 3:00 PM—mountain clouds often roll in during the late afternoon, obscuring the scenic backdrop. 🧺 Bring a picnic, wear good hiking shoes, and take your time soaking in the silence and majesty of this alpine gem. It's incredible here! The most place in Switzerland for me. A special time of year to visit the is autumn. It’s an incredible and awe-inspiring place that must be visited in Switzerland. I visited it in November, when the car was closed. This gave me the opportunity to climb up on my own. It was an outstanding experience. Absolutely amazing to see the colours blend in with each other. It is worth every penny. Make sure to do the to the top to get the most excellent views. The is - early in the morning it’s quiet, the reflection shots are spectacular, and the scenery is top class. But once the day gets going, it’s exactly as other reviewers said: pure mass tourism. Loud groups, people blasting music from boats, visitors in sneakers treating the trails like a stroll, even a drone despite the ban. Mid-October, allegedly off-season, still felt like a fairground. There’s no meaningful ranger or security presence, so rules aren’t enforced and the atmosphere is completely ruined after 10 a.m. Worth seeing once if you go early and get out before the crowds - but don’t expect peace and quiet. Prepare to but also to be rewarded extraordinary views! Now if you are lazy and want some good food and a beer, they have that too, at the top of the you will find the most unique restaurant managed (to be more accurate: commanded) by Nadia and her mother. Those ladies are the generals of that place and have some stories to tell with some flair and discipline. Enjoy and don’t tell me I didn’t warn you. A hiking in Switzerland! I recommend following the hiking for a higher viewpoint. The isn't very intense, and the viewpoint is way less crowded than beside the lake. 5/5 – Absolutely unforgettable experience. Oeschinen Viewpoint was easily one of the highlights of our trip. From start to finish, the entire visit felt like something out of a postcard. The walk to the viewpoint was manageable — not too steep or long — and completely worth the effort. You’re rewarded with unreal that genuinely took our breath away. We were lucky enough to visit on a clear day, and the weather couldn’t have been better. The combination of the crystal-clear lake, dramatic mountain peaks, and fresh alpine air was nothing short of magical. It honestly didn’t feel real at times. The area was impressively clean — not a bit of litter in sight — and even the toilet facilities were spotless and free to use, which isn’t something you always find at these kinds of spots. It really felt like a well-cared-for place that’s respected by locals and visitors alike. One of the unexpected highlights? Watching the cows come running down the hillside towards the lake. It was such a surreal and charming moment. They were calm, friendly, and even let us give them a little pat. Definitely something we’ll remember! There are plenty of cafés dotted around for food and drink, so it’s easy to make a day of it without needing to pack a full picnic. We took the lift up to the top which cost CHF 40 per person return — a little pricey but totally worth it for the ease and the you get on the way up. All in all, this place is pure magic. Peaceful, picturesque, and packed with things to take in. I’d absolutely come back again and wouldn’t think twice about recommending it to anyone visiting Switzerland. Loved this and lake, we took the car up and the were beautiful, the down to the was amazing and very easy. The itself was stunning, especially on a hot day the cold water was nice to swim in. The down to the parking lot is moderate, hiking poles could be helpful (but not necessary) for the steep parts. Wonderful hike. We started from the base at the car station. It is also possible to take the car and start the at the top station. There is a panoramic, round there, which is a bit demanding. Parking can be quite expensive. We paid 24 CHF for around 4 hours. Those who take the car gets a 50 % discount for parking fees. Amazing — clean water, peaceful atmosphere, and perfect for swimming or relaxing 🌿🌊. Oeschinen is a lovely place set on a height of circa 1600m (above Kandersteg - can be reached either walking or with a car, with a nature and trails around the for hikers. It's a bit cold but can be used during hot days of summer. This was my first hike/trip in Switzerland and it was magical! Please do not listen to the people who gave this place bad reviews because they do not appreciate a good view or even being in the mountains at all because that was one of the best I have ever seen. The surrounded by the mountains is so surreal that I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The only negative thing I’d say about it is that the to the panoramic view is very long. We started the on the backside and realize that was a mistake because of how steep the got. However, no matter where you were, the view of the was always in view and it was worth every minute of that trip.
