This pub was a short walk (or scramble whenever following the OS Map) from Evelyn's Retreat. It is on the side of the A5 and has incredible views of the surrounding countryside which you can see from inside, or sit out in a lovely garden. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful, service was efficient. The food was fantastic. Just your normal pub offerings on the menu but was absolutely delicious. We had a meal here and really enjoyed it. The staff were pleasant and really welcoming. The food was excellent as was the choice of beers. Our dog was also welcome in the snug where we had our meal. Recommended if you want an authentic pub experience with locals and lots of Welsh being spoken. Really great to see the dialect being kept alive. The food, service and location were a matched triad of excellence! I had the whitebait for a starter and their steak pudding for a main; my daughter got a prodigious portion of "mini fish and chips". But their desserts were really the stars of the show, with a perfect cheesecake and excellent (gluten free!) apple crumble providing the crescendo to the triumphal dinner. I highly recommend that you book because they don't have many tables, and the most sought after have astounding valley views. A comfortable spot in a beautiful location. This place is an ideal place to stop if you're touring on Motorbike. I didn't ask, but given that our wardrobe had shelving that was suspiciously perfectly sized to take helmets, I'd guess they know their market pretty well. The staff were very and accommodating. Dog which is always nice. The food was absolutely incredible and loved by all 6 of us that dined here. I very highly recommend eating here, you will not be disappointed. Very reasonable pricing too. Will definitely visit again. We recently visited Llangollen for the festival and were lucky to find the Berwyn Arms which is a gem of a place. Close to the town just along the A5, plenty of parking space to a warm welcome upon arrival. Sarah and staff were personable, and nothing was too much trouble. Beautifully spacious and clean bedroom no 1 with fantastic view over the valley. Dinner was freshly cooked and tasted beautiful: suet pudding and Thai green curry, followed by mango cheesecake and cream (all homemade). Returning from the festival, it was warming to have the front door open for us and even my request for oat milk for last brew was not a problem. Traditional and home cooked breakfast the following morning, chatting to other visitors made our visit to Wales a first class experience. Stayed for one night and well-worth it. Sarah and her team are very and ensured we had a great stay. The beds are very comfortable, room was modern and clean. There is also a wide selection of drinks at the bar available. Tasty breakfast, too! Thank you for a lovely break away. During a recent walk in the beautiful Dee valley area, we decided to stop by the Berwym Arms for lunch. Although the pub was quiet at the time, we were greeted warmly by the well-staffed team. The staff showed genuine interest in us and our walking adventures, making us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and drinks on their veranda, which offers fabulous views of the surrounding area. The combination of tasty food, service, and stunning scenery made for a delightful experience. Overall, I can't fault the Berwym Arms for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and great value. Highly recommended as the best pub we found in the area! Passed on the way from Portmeirion to Wrexham. Could not have asked for better food or service. Meal was delicious and clearly made with care and attention. Staff very friendly. Worth paying a visit for sure.
