Proper old traditional pub, great food with proper size portions too. Steak & stout pie & home cooked ham with double egg & chips were excellent. Lovely staff & to top it all off the most fantastic view from the terrace. We will definitely be back again & again Ps added bonus was the 0% Guinness for the driver We had high hopes for this place however were very disappointed. We were thrilled to find a vegetarian/vegan menu in such a rural location however food unfortunately was below par. The vegetarian pasta bolognese was runny. The vegan Thai green curry, which featured new potatoes, was white, thick and bland. The chicken burger was standard with no accompanying toppings to the burger just a bun and frozen chicken breaded fillet. The chicken and leek pie was average but the frozen vegetables served alongside the pie were overcooked and bland. Although quaint, the pub is tired and very random. The old fashioned decor do not match the signs and chalkboard messages around the pub. I feel this place could be a lot better- shame! Let's finish on a positive...the views from the beer garden deserve 5*. Absolutely fabulous here the views are stunning! One of my favourite places Carrog is beautiful. Lovely outside area with views to die for. Pub is lovely inside too. Have never eaten here but food looks okay. A place to visit 😊 x Beautiful scenery, good sized car park, very welcoming and friendly staff. Seated our table of 8 plus 1 dog in a separate room. Stunning and delicious food. Charming decor and photos. Overlooking the River Dee. Highly recommended! Wow, this place is amazing with spectacular Welsh views and fantastic food. Great choice of beers, the staff very pleasant and polite, and the service was brilliant. Called in here for an evening meal and was not disappointed in any way. Definitely will be coming here again. It was a 5-minute walk from the campsite I was staying in, Station Campsite. It is in a beautiful part of North Wales. Enjoy, cheers, Vince 👍 My family and I have enjoyed a week away in Corwen, North Wales, visiting a number of local attractions. The natural beauty of the landscape in this locale is something I have really enjoyed and will continue to do so with wonder memories of our brief stay. On the eve of our final day, we decided to remain fairly local to our delightful holiday let and eat out. With the River Dee on a few metres from its doorstep, The Grouse Inn had an immediate appeal, and dog friendly, too. In light of the fact we were a party of eight people, we phoned and reserved a table and were pleased the staff were able to accommodate us at relatively short notice. We were able to park in the pub grounds with easy access to the main bar and restaurant. We were shown to our table and within a few minutes ordered drinks. The food menu provided a broad selection of meals and catered for the more fussy younger members of our family. We ordered a selection of meals including; Chicken Curry, Steak and Stout Pie, Chicken and Leak Pie, Jacket Potato. The children were also well catered for with chunky chips, Sweet Potato fries and thick slices of garlic bread. It was evident within a couple of mouthfuls our that the food was freshly prepared and with a healthy quantity of good quality meat within our adult dishes. I enjoyed a few of the chunky chips and a slice of garlic bread, which was very tasty, too. Only one of our party had room for dessert, which looked and apparently tasted lovely. The entire experience at The Grouse Inn, including a ten minute walk around the bank of The River Dee was very enjoyable and very good valid for money. In the event we are able to return at some future, I am in no doubt that The Grouse Inn will feature in our plans. We'll done team, and thank you! Great pub food and beers, wonderful scenic views from the outdoor terrace too which provides great cover from the elements in a part of the world that can experience all types of weather in a few minutes! Delightful dog friendly pub serving lovely home cooked food. Called in by chance (found on google maps) having travelled across the Horseshoe Pass and heading back to Llangollen. The setting is stunning with the river Dee running just across the road. All the staff were very friendly & made us feel welcome. Would highly recommend a visit if in the area.
