A proper country pub, fast service, food with a smile, even the female very busy chef! A place you can take your grandma and not be disappointed! Very pleasant surroundings, complete with an enclosed beer garden. Perfect place for pitstop and a good meal, and welcoming staff with an excellent selection of ale, the fire was burning and dog friendly, a pub doing it right! what more could you want 👍 Wonderful, family run, CAMRA award winning, country pub. Large selection of real ales and ciders available, along with the most delicious, home cooked food. The ploughmans I had, has to be THE best one I've ever had. (And I've consumed many). Super staff, large beer garden, dog and well worth a visit. Lovely country pub. Decent selection of real ales, kept in excellent condition. staff and great locals. Dog - everyone came up to make a fuss of them. Steak was cooked to perfection. Drinks were very reasonably priced. It was an all-round great experience. An utterly spectacular pub. The very definition of. Good range of very well kept beers, many sourced from the local area. And a wide choice of proper pub meals - nothing fancy, just good ingredients v well cooked. A warm atmosphere on the Wednesday evening I was there. If only I lived closer I’d be here all the time. Great food in this pub, had a really pub vibe, filled with locals. We had the baked brie wedges for starter and for main had the pork, leak and cider pie, with chips, peas ans gravy. Was very delicious. Sad to say the food we received tonight was basically inedible. I ordered the burger, my partner had the sirloin steak. The burger was hard, rubbery, incredibly salty, and served in a bun that disintegrated on the first bite. It was clearly frozen, and I couldn’t bring myself to finish it – which is very rare for me. The chips were fine, the coleslaw average. My partner’s steak was about 75% fat to 25% meat. She said the flavour was decent, but it was nowhere near worth the price charged and was not of an acceptable quality at all. The staff were indifferent, offering little in the way of welcome or service, which added to an overall underwhelming experience. A shame, as the setting itself is lovely. I can usually overlook one or two inconsistencies when eating out, but here the whole experience – food, service, and value – fell well below what you’d expect for a pub charging these prices.
