It could be a really place if it was restored. Unfortunately its ruined and bats live inside. The grounds are relatively safe to walk around as its made of stone. There is a window on the 2nd floor with a nice view. It's a nice lost place. You can go inside and explore it for free and it is safe if you stay on the main ground. You can search other rooms and places in upper floors, but (especially) third floor is not safe anymore at all. You visit this place at your own risk, but it's a nice adventure if you're careful. Ugodno mjesto sa lijepim vidicima i dobrom kavom. One of the places in Europe. Wonderful view and nature! Clean water and air. Podčetrtek is placed on a hill over the village with the same name. This once has been left its fate slowly turning to ruins. A pity... You can reach it only by foot. On a hot summer day, a nice 20-minute stroll through a cold jungle-like forest was well worth it. On top of the hill there’s a majestic super old castle… one of the oldest in Slovenia (first mentionend in 1261!) Unfortunately they are currently closed for renovation… but still a historic site worth visiting. Deserves the hike up , scenery is relaxing cafe and a bar up , I enjoyed the hike up. The view is and I think they did a good job with the renovations. Historic charm taken away in favour of modern restaurantaurism. Bad service. Had a scalding hot coffee poured on my wife which gave her burns on her legs, destroying her clothes and staining my shoes. No offer to pay for damages or dry cleaning. Didn't even clean their own mess up, another coworker had to clean it for them. .we weren't charged for the spilled coffee, wow. But had to pay for the rest of the drinks rather than what I would expect, to have the table for free and complimentary drinks and to offer dry cleaning for our damaged clothes. Dont come here unless you want to ruin your clothes and get burns! Besides the poor service and incompetent staff, the building itself has completely lost its charm, looks like any government council building now, take a look at the older photos of the and you'll see that old medieval charm that is all but lost now... nice to visit quickly and have a beer. there is a museum but with 1 room only. what a pity! could be much more interesting to have a guided tour to see the upper floors, they are not accessible at the moment. A viewpoint, one can see the villages, thermal baths, Podčetrtek, Zagorje hills. A friendly waiter and waitress, good wine. Maybe there are not enough tables on the terrace. But the experience will be even better when the construction waste and garbage, which can be seen directly from the terrace, are cleaned up. The is currently being renovated. At the moment, only the café is open, which has a outdoor terrace with a great view of the village of Podcetrtek and the surrounding area. Currently no entry fee to enter the castle. Zelo okusno in lep razgled V kavarni postrežbe po 20 minutah nismo dočakali, sedeli smo ob polni mizi kozarcev prejšnjih gostov. V lokalu so delali trije zaposleni,v spodnjem prostoru ni bilo gostov, zgoraj na terasi pa samo 8 miz. Dobro vprašanje za lastnika kavarne - kakšna je to dobrodošlica za obiskovalce gradu? Po toliko letih propadanja,ga je lepo videti obnovljenega .Razgled s terase pa čudovit.
