Great walk. All uphill. So don't think this is a in the park. Once you get to the cafe use the ropes to go up into the mountain. Treacherous without ropes. Came down some of it backwards. Took us 1.5 hour from Katastari. Views are amazing. Can see the salt flats & Alykanas bay. Truly a worthwhile trek. Not for the faint hearted. What an amazing visit this is, we took a 4x4 up to the snack bar and then took the / climb up to the with the path marked with rope, which you need! Fantastic views from up there and then freshly made cold drinks required when back at the snack bar. Friendly guy and his dog Ian at the snack bar. Well worth the visit. Výstup k jeskyni působí nebezpečně, ale během 10 min. jsme i v důchodovém věku byli nahoře, a ta troška adrenalinu za ten krásný výhled do krajiny rozhodně stála. Really nice worth visiting, reminiscent of something you’d find in Cheddar gorge. We walked from Alykanas Beach to the cave, a little over 6.6km each way the is generally lovely and peaceful through old olive groves and quaint farmland, only on the final 1.5km did we meet any elevation it was enjoyable though and led to even more satisfaction when we finally made it to the as we had achieved it all on foot, you do pass a church presumably destroyed by the 1950’s earthquake within about 400 m of the cave, definitely worth a photo. The final ascent is up a rocky path, you are helped with ropes either side, apparently put there by the people who run the lovely shop at the foot of the cave, the people of the shop ask you too kindly purchase a little something from the shop be it a drink or some homemade soap etc, we had homemade orange juice, which must say was divine plus some soap and olive oil as both are made locally and by the lady’s own hands, incidentally the lady was a most friendly individual. Can’t find any history on the which is a bit annoying as surely it was used by Neanderthal or humans from maybe the Mesolithic or Palaeolithic era thus leaving some evidence behind. The mountain trail to the Black is quite challenging and requires using a rope at some points, so good footwear is a must. However, the effort is absolutely worth it — the views along the way and the sense of accomplishment after completing the hike are incredibly rewarding. Nice small with lovely views over the lower island and the sea beyond! The road up there is a bit rough and there is a perhaps a 10 minute hike up to the (slippers are not ok for this hike). Have a decent car or quad/atv/bike to get up the hill and have decent shoes for the up to the cave. Breathtaking view and super interesting that almost feels like someone could have lived there during the Stone Age. Good railing to help you get up to the cave. Very narrow, steep road towards the cave. Only parking space for 4 cars. The itself is 10 minutes. But the path is very slippery. Good shoes are recommended. Fajne miejsce z widokiem na okolicę. Wejście/dojazd do tawerny fajna droga z niedużym upadem. Nice with easy access, 5min climb from the parking spot with a small shelter from the sun. There’s an amazing is a view towards northeast side of the island and Kefalonia. Good place to cool down on a hot day. Well it’s a nice spot with a great view but honestly not that breathtaking venue you must have seen of Zakynthos. If you like more adventure I recommend to go by Quad (4x4WD is a must) passing by the entrance of the black caves going up the mountain about 20 minutes almost straight ahead and up the mountain, with a really breathtaking view of the whole island. You can see the sea on three sides only the fourth side is hidden by higher mountains. Super procházka a úžasný výhled. To us one of the highlights of our holiday. If you like an ‘adventure’ you should definitely visit this cave. It’s a very special view from the top of the mountain. The road to the is a bit bumpy and perhaps not very pleasant by car, but we drove there with a quad and that's fine! If you go, make sure you wear closed-toed shoes. Also be prepared to have to up a bumpy staircase for at least another 10 minutes. If you have difficulty walking, I wouldn't go here. There is also a shop with drinks just before the start of the stairs, but it is not always open, so bring your own water if necessary. Moreover, I recommend going here in the morning, as the climb up is a bit harder with the bright sun in the afternoon.
