We drove up to the from Alykanas and there is parking for a few cars on the site. The is situated in a large building where there are four large rooms of exhibits and a gift shop. There are also nice clean toilets in the museum. A great place for children to experience many stuffed animals and birds and learn about them. I found the sea life room very interesting and it made me think why we go swimming with some of the things that live in there! A different experience to natural films as you can see the actual size of the stuffed animals and birds in the glass cases. Sorry no photos as photography wasn't allowed. There are three floors; I liked the birds collection (1st floor), most were very well preserved. It was hot while exploring the 1st floor but the rooms in the basement and the ground floor were fine. There was a slight smell on the 1st floor but it didn't prevent me from browsing the collection for 10 minutes. Also, the seashells/rocks/butterflies (basement) were astonishing! It's a very nice visit for tourists and locals. We parked in an olive field across the but if there are too many visitors, parking could be a problem. Don't expect too much. It is a good if you are into nature and/or taxidermy. If you are in the area, give it a go. We visited this year the museum. It is nice and interesting for the kids. It is rather small and it smells bad. Especially the underground. It has 4 rooms. The girl there was not very willing to take us around even though we were the only people to visit. She was actually busy in her computer. This is a private selection and it worth support. it is quite old and needs some renewal. We spent no more than 15 minutes in there. The has beautiful and interesting things, to read and see the sea life . The butterfly 🦋 collection is amazing. It's worth it visiting the place ! Amazing museum, much more than we expected to find here. Very informative and interesting place to visit. The lady was very helpful too. When we visited, the butterfly exhibit was "closed" (the door was open with a man spinning on a chair) but the price was still 6 euros. There was no discount for older visitors. The first room with taxidermy animals had some which were clearly being eaten by pests and badly taxidermied. The second room had a decomposing, poorly-preserved fish above the door and the room stunk of it. The stuffed animals all had googly eyes and labels were either non-existant, only in Greek or didn't say where the object was from. In the shop, you could buy many shells, poorly dried seahorses and other things. For a "natural and marine" museum, it clearly doesn't protect any natural and is more than happy to exploit the marine life and your wallet. Ill be honest i had low expectations but they were exceeded. Staff were friendly and it was very informative. And it was bigger than i thought it would be. Some of the taxidermy were not up to par. But go upstairs and ive never seen more impressive bird taxidermy in my life. Definatly worth a visit magnificent of stones, butterflies and shells. birds from all over the world are represented. Situated in a beautiful old three storey building with amazing views across the whole island. Informative and educational with interactive games in several languages. Regular art exhibitions, natural and the most amazing of butterflies and insects. Sat in the peaceful garden outside which was a bird and butterfly haven. The staff, Maria and Marina are so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Free entry. Full disabled access with lift. A totally pleasant and wonderful experience with a lovely little restaurant a 5 min walk away. It's truly an incredible place. A must-see that suits the geography and spirit of the island. It contains a wide variety of rare examples. We definitely recommend you to see it.Özden Eren Başkavak Gün Really nice, it has wide of Zakynthos' flora and fauna, as well as of the global natural world. When there you can feel like a curious child again. High educational function for the youngest, and fulfills the adults' curiosity at the same time! Little bit old school with bad odour in some rooms, but in general educational as expected. Such a fantastic place! Loved it so much! An absolute treasure-trove of and wonder with the most amazing and extensive collections. The lady that works there is super knowledgeable, so friendly and so helpful! It was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours there taking the time to read everything & I learnt so much! Thank you Despoina & Mr Helmi! 🥰 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
