Probably the worst linguini I've ever had. - Potato for fish and chips was cooked on rancid oil. - Music was very funny, sounded like someone was learning to play flute. 2 stars only for the views. Excellent food and a great choice of local drinks. We had crab claws, seafood chowder, salt and chilli squid and fish burger. All was excellent. Great service too. In response to the owners false claims due to his very poor service I would like to clarify some facts. 1) The party of 5 did not arrive 40 minutes late, they arrived 20 minutes late, after the bus upon which they were travelling was late. Upon entry to the dining area we were greeted by a shocking staff member who hurled abuse from the get go. We tried to reason with him as there were available tables in front of us that could have been used. He insisted the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. We asked; had we have been in time how would it have been possible to serve a 3 course meal in half an hour. Of course this could not be answered. 2) Upon realising that we would be late, we accessed our booking on res diary as soon as it became apparent, to make an amendment to the booking. There was no means of changing the time and there were no other bookings available. Your failure to answer 6 phone calls each 3 minutes apart was not a failure on our behalf of trying to ensure the correct correspondence was made. 3) At no stage did any of the party members became abusive, there is a difference between abusive and being frustrated, exacerbated by the lack of engagement with your head waiter who would not allow for a reasonable conversation to be had. When your waiter finally lost his professionalism he then asked us to leave. We asked for an explanation as to how a show for a restaurant appointment would lead to us being asked to leave. Again he could not answer this and then made advances to start a physical row with us, at which stage we told him not to touch us. At this stage his aggression levels had raised again and he started roaring at us. Despite being roared at, we maintained a cooperative and composed demeanor. My friends had travelled a long way from Canada and were in disbelief as to how a showing at a restaurant could lead to us being asked to leave, in the manner in which they were. The tourists from Canada are from very professional backgrounds and if you would like 4 more independent reviews on the way they were treated on the night in question they are happy to provide such reviews. I doubt they will be providing a review as forgiving as this one. Our group was looking for a nice place for a seaside lunch between Belfast and Dublin. An internet search turned up The Glyde Inn and what a tremendous bit of Irish luck it was! Delicious meal and drinks, impressive service, and the perfect location. You can’t miss with a visit. The food in the restaurant is really good. The location is beautiful. The service is slow but they appear to be short staffed so I can't fault them. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The Glyde Inn is a pleasant dining experience We went for fish and chips with my family. All three portions were very oily, there was more batter than fish, and the chips were not chunky at all they were crunchy,oil,skinny literally almost burnt and the portion was very small and not worth the price. We have been here before and the food was much nicer, a shame the quality has dropped. Will not be coming back. One of my favourite pubs in Co. Louth & have been going there every summer for years. Used to love to get a pint and sit out on the back wall in the summer and look out over the sea. Recently popped in and was disappointed to see the ‘improved’ back garden area in which a tacky Rockshore promotional windbreaker/bench has been built all across what used to be the back wall, totally obstructing the beautiful view.
