Such an absolute 'Gem' of a Pub 👍. Found it by chance when staying in a local AirBnB. The Pub has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere 🙂, with lots of tables and seats and lots of objects and parafanailia on the walls and Ceiling, which are really cool and interesting to look at 👍😎 The staff are super and helpful, and even provide table service for drinks, which I thought was really nice touch 👍. The food they serve is fantastic👍 The Menu is pretty impressive too for a small local pub, and the quality and taste of what is served is excellent 🤩😎 I'd recommend the Boozy Mushroom starter and the Homemade Pie Main Course (Steak and Ale) which is fantastic (packed full of really nice Beef). The price of the food is very reasonable for the quality of what is served 👍 If you are nearby, it's a must visit. If you're not nearby, it's worth making a trip to it 👍🙂 It has a quirky style to this pub restaurant with staff. The meals took a while to arrive, over an hour, however when it did the food was mostly good quality, particularly on the mixed meat specials menu meal. Couldn't fault it, great quality and portion. The dinner was nice however the portion sizes weren't great, for example both of them had only two tiny potatoes and some mixed other veg to share. Was good overall, but wouldn't recommend the roast. Lovely 17th century Inn off the beaten track. Great food and service Went for Sunday lunch after making a reservation only a few hours before. Landlord (forget his name) was very friendly. Lots of free parking around the back. Was served by Katie who was really pleasant and a good laugh too. Had the goats cheese and mushrooms starters and both were delicious. For mains we had mushroom stroganoff and a beef dinner. I've genuinely never had a more generous portion of meat on a and it was fantastic too. The price was very reasonable and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Would highly recommend The Stag. Lovely. Lovely Sunday dinner. Super tasty food and great drinks. The Guinness was top notch and we had a lovely meal. The vegetarian was a stroganoff and it was 10/10. Lots of great meat options too and the cheesecake and crumble were delicious. Maria ( owner) was lovely and chatty. Her husband is the chef, and we saw him chatting with people too. Their son was behind the bar and was so helpful with choosing the wine, which was a melbec and equally lovely. The food was huge and by far, the best pub food we have ever had and we are all in our late 40's to early 50's, so we've eaten out a lot. I can't recommend this amazing place more. You MUST try and we are already planning a trip back there. We had a weekend stay with family from Friday to Monday. Accommodation was spotless, looks newly renovated. The rooms a great size. The owners and staff were and very helpful. The food was very well presented and the tasted amazing. We all enjoyed our meals, even the kids. Highly recommended and worth a visit.
