Beautiful place quiet and tranquil. It was too cold for me to swim but saw people out swimming and enjoying the peace. There are caves that I was told when the sea is out you can explore. We will be back at low tide ! Very steep path down, so also a steep walk up, scenery worth the hike! Very enjoyable walk along the coastal line, very beautiful and scenic views, all people been so kind saying hi and hello, the day was amazingly warm and there was almost no wind, perfect place to get your dog and burn some fat :P We had a great time with the kids exploring the caves and rock pools! This is not a sandy beach, but there were lots of fish, crabs, etc to find in the rock pools! Great spot for a family getaway, especially if you're into seeing those adorable puffins when they're around Love it so much we bought a caravan on the Haven park! Lots of beautiful photo opportunities. Kids will love climbing over the rocks, through the caves and dipping in the sea Stunning but Dangerous – Paddleboarding with Caution This bay is undeniably beautiful – a hidden gem with crystal-clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and a real sense of adventure. However, accessing it is not easy. The descent is steep, followed by a staircase, and then you’ll need to climb over large rocks to reach the water or go through a cave. We went paddleboarding here, but I feel it's important to warn others: there is a dangerous riptide that pulls you out to sea, and it is extremely difficult to paddle against. During our visit, we got caught in the current and struggled to make our way back to the caves. It was exhausting and quite frightening. We weren’t the only ones. Two other paddleboarders got stranded on a rock and had to be rescued by the coastguard. A woman and her young child were knocked off their paddleboard by a wave and had to abandon it, swimming back to shore for safety. This location, while breathtaking, is risky for paddleboarding. It's an incredible adventure – we even lost one of our fins to underwater rocks while navigating the caves and had to dash back to the car for a spare – but the risks are real. Please be warned: Only paddleboard here if you're experienced and equipped with proper safety gear, including a life vest. Be a strong swimmer. Take extra care if bringing children – even teenagers. Check tide and weather conditions beforehand, and don’t underestimate the power of the sea here. It's a stunning place, but not one to take lightly. Loved it here! Teenage kids went off exploring Amazing rock formation Visit Thornwick Bay in June most years. Plenty of parking, small charge per car! lovely cafe. Ideal area for picnicking. Easy walk into flamborough, or for the more adventurous up to Bempton to see the seabird colonies. RSPB has a great facility there, cafe, shop & toilet facilities. Beautiful bay, lots to explore. Must be able to walk well and be steady as the walk to the bay is steep and uneven. Great for getting out and about and something different. Very scenic and lovely clifftop walks. Great views, can spot dolphins in the evening if your lucky Love thornwick bay, great coves, all enclosed, and newly renovated path down making it easy to access. Found some hag stones too.
