There are only 3 'Highly Protected Area' sites and the other 2 are not on the UK mainland. It is a 'shallow' so watch out for the tide coming in and cutting you off. And do not be surprised if you have it to yourself.😆 My sat nav sent me on an apparent, short cut, however travelling from the North, easier to go via Silloth, then about 4 miles along the coastal road. Once there, ample free parking, within a short walk to the beach. There's some picnic benches on the green, a short walk over the sand hills to access the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach. Once over the band of pebbles, the is vast, with rock pools to explore, which can be of interest and learning for children. is good for walking. You also get awesome view of the sunset if you're lucky. On this beautiful sunny evening 🌞 the views from Allonby were amazing. We were so lucky to see an absolutely stunning July sunset here reflecting across the water. The pup gets very excited when he comes here. Mostly not too busy, nice place for a relaxing walk and an ice cream. Needs a coffee shop though 🙂 Nice quiet beach, great for dog walking. It’s always easy to get parked and parking is free. There are paths along the too which are good for skating or jogging.
