It's now a modern building with a shop, storage and maintenance. From 13th November a Tamar class lifeboat ON-1301 'John Buchanan Barr' has been on station, ready to respond. Funded by a generous bequest from Mrs Catherine Barr, named after her husband. The Heroes on the lifeboats are all volunteers, the Tamar class has a crew of 4 and a range of 250 miles. little shop. The volunteer today was a very friendly lady. Full of Local knowledge, and to chat to. This is a little shop, selling all sorts of stuff. Calendars, cards, biscuits, the most gorgeous fudge, ornaments to name but a few. A bit on the pricey side, but all for an extremely good cause. I found everyone I spoke with to be very friendly and warm. Portpatrick is a gorgeous place to visit. They also offer various gifts which are great not only for supporting a cause but also to take home as a souvenir. Great run in the car and even better if the sun is shining. A marina with roadside pubs with outdoor patios serving great food and drinks. A place for a walk with the family or the dog... Highly recommended. As my boy loves lifeboats we always visit lifeboat stations along our routes in the camper and this was one of the best the crew were absolutely fantastic explaining every little detail about what they do and how they do it even got to visit the lifeboat and sit on the seats that the crew sail in An interesting wee town with views.
