Small parking lots of benches scattered around the to sit and soak in the A lot of history in this area, the around the valley is easy enough with historical stops as you round. However if you go in the clockwise direction you will finish with a up chimney bank which is very very steep! Great views, and fascinating history. Good parking provided Interesting history here. Great place to visit. Stunning with awesome views. The drive there is really once you leave Rosedale Abbey. There is a small car park on the way up, and an even smaller one at the top. There was 3 camper vans parked up when we went, but space for a few more. The kilns are partly demolished, and there is a couple of info boards. There are sheep everywhere, and a fair bit of their poo, but the paths and was pretty much litter free. The history is great, it would be amazing to see when it was active. Decided to the seemingly short to Bank Top Kilns from The Howard site we were staying at. Worth it but very very route to follow and the view was spectacular. Enjoyed a pint at the White Horse Farm inn on my decent too. Worth stopping at the small car park if you like a bit of industrial heritage - no charge for anything. There is a good little 3D map of the pointing out the main features, on the edge of the slope from the Moor into the valley. Peaceful down the valley. Not much to see really , but at least you can park next to it atop the hill Amazing landscape to explore, with a free car park. I walked up the (very steep) hill, but once you're up it has a level pathway so friendly for anything on wheels. Lots of bits and pieces around that hint at what it was like, but very much given over to nature now. Nearby is the Ana Cross, also accessible by a generally level pathway. Nice from there too. Amazing view from the top of it Good view nice walks very great scenery It almost feels like you're in Greece—the drive up is absolutely breathtaking, with beautiful purple flowers lining the way. The road is quite steep, but it's well worth the effort. At the top, you'll find plenty of chairs where you can sit and soak in the stunning views. The scenery is incredible, and the site offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of ancient iron-making. While the ruins aren't well maintained and give off a bit of a haunted vibe, especially with sheep wandering around, it adds a unique atmosphere to the experience. There is a table to sit at, but the can be quite slippery, especially for elderly visitors. Good walking shoes—and maybe even a walking stick—are highly recommended to stay safe.
