My mother (71) nearly fell of a broken chair with a screw missing. Garden area was muddy and not at all like the pictures. I presumed that a bbq was included as pictures showed one and said bbq area. No. I had to pay £10 ( with £10 deposit to hire one. They brought one absolutely filthy and covered in rust. The gentleman who brought it even said "be careful they arnt the best". I scrubbed it before and after use, yet i have just got of the phone with them as i have not recieved my £10 deposit back. The lady who answed has said you only get it back if its cleaned. Are they joking. Hot tub and how private hawk cabin is, is the only things that saved our little braek. We have stayed in herons a few years ago and took our children this time, we won’t be going again. Lodge was not well maintained and it was not clean at all cutlery was all dirty and plates had to clean everything before use, this was the Tongs for barbecue in the picture. I think it’s ridiculous for the price that you don’t get basic amenities like tea coffee and sauces we did bring tea and coffee but I’ve stayed in places before they do normally provide these. Hot tub was fine but can tell it’s overloaded with chemicals we have one at home and ours doesn’t smell as chemically As this one also not private at all. Wouldn’t recommend for children as there’s nothing there for them to do as such unless you leave. This place was not worth the money we spent and would not recommend this place to anyone looking to stay. My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary for 2 nights, we paid extra to upgrade to the goldeneye lodge. When we arrived I noticed that the floor was absolutely filthy, our socks were black within half an hour of being there, we had to wear our shoes the whole time we were there as it was disgusting. The whole lodge is very worn and badly maintained. Bathroom was mouldy and we found a slug in there, vinyl peeling off the bedside drawers, some sort of damp leaving yellow stains down the wall. The cupboard on the dishwasher had fallen off. When my boyfriend went to shut the curtains, the curtain pole fell and hit him on the head. We noticed that the ball on the end was missing so it wasn’t even secured. We rang reception and they came up to fix it. A few hours later while washing up the dirty glasses that were left in the cupboard from the last guests I noticed that we had no hot water and had to call someone again to come and fix this which disrupted our meal. The only pros to this place was the hot tub was nice and it was in a lovely area and good location. Beautiful grounds but the lodges need drastic improvement. The decor is aged and tired, but worse, it was unclean. The place had a horrible musty smell and there was dust everywhere. The bathroom was full of mould. We raised these concerns multiple times during our stay and no action was taken to properly clean the bathroom. By the end of the weekend, I felt unclean and desperate to get home just from being in a dirty environment. Management do not want to listen to these concerns as ultimately people are still making bookings. I appreciate the price may reflect the overall condition of the place, but I will not compromise on cleanliness.
