I had the pie and the crust was perfect—golden, flaky, and buttery. It’s clear they take pride in their food. On top of that, the service was fantastic; everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking too. So good we came back the next day for lunch! :) We arrived without booking on a busy Friday evening but the owner happily accommodated us and was willing to shuffle tables around for us with our two dogs. We shared a starter and dessert - had our own meals. The creamy mushrooms were lovely, top job. We then both had the pork belly special - was almost perfect, thought the pork belly was a bit dry at the end and I've had better crackling. The Mustard Mash, Spiced Red Cabbage , Stornoway Black Pudding & Apple Croquette Pork Jus was divine however. The desert was amazing, prob the best bit. The double chocolate browine with chocolate sauce and chocolate icream? 10/10. Would return here to eat though for sure. Will definitely be visiting again. 😁 We always went to The George at Sandy Lane but said we would try the Carvery once it switched over to The Greyhound. Food was good, service was ok until people had been served on the Carvery then it was a little wait to order desserts or get the bill as the Staff were busy serving food in the restaurant downstairs. Did make you feel as if you'd been forgotten. The Carvery Room didn't have the same atmosphere that was at the George and the stairs were quite steep for someone with mobility issues. I would go again but I do miss the whole package we used to get at The George Really restaurant. Staff were so friendly and helpful- there was a large party near us and the staff were encouraging us to order before the party, it was a kind gesture to avoid us having a long wait and we didn’t feel rushed either. Will definitely be coming back. Food was absolutely delicious, save room for dessert!
