Good location but poor for allergies. Not able to remove allergen items from a meal.. ie take mashed potato off or replace with chips. Only one option available for wife At the time of writing, this place is rated 4/5 stars and I don't think this does it justice. We visited today, 3 of us, 3 meals and 3 drinks £60. Good choice of food and drinks. Portions are an alright size and I am a large male (so should be good enough for everyone else). Staff were friendly, and the dining/seating rooms were very nice. I would definitely come here again. We booked a table here for Father’s Day. Having been here before a few years ago, we were looking forward to a nice out. When we booked we added a note about my nut allergy and thought that everything would be fine. Upon arrival we were seated, asked about allergies and were given an allergen tablet. From the Sunday menu, the thing I wanted most was the pork roast which had a may contain nuts due to the stuffing, when our order was taken I asked for this but asked if they could withhold the stuffing due to my allergy. Every other item on the had no risk of nuts so this would have been fine for me. We were quite rudely told no, that’s not possible. When we asked why the abrupt answer is that they won’t modify meals for someone with an allergy and I would have to choose something else. The waitress went and asked the chef at our request who also refused to accommodate my allergy. I was told to either order something else, or order the and it will come with stuffing. Unfortunately we decided to take our business elsewhere, this is the first time I have had a restaurant point blank refuse to accommodate my allergy make changes to a meal, it was a very small request and if anything the would have been safer for me to eat. Given the item I didn’t want wasn’t a core item that couldn’t be removed this was ridiculous. If the staff in a restaurant are not willing to take allergies seriously then I won’t eat there as it’s an emergency waiting to happen. Thankfully we managed to call the Pheasant in Chippenham, who when we explained what had happened, were able to make room for us even though they were fully booked. If you want a better I would suggest not booking the Milk Churn and going to the Pheasant, better and more welcoming service, more pleasant atmosphere and nicer food! We had a lovely Sunday lunch and some drinks here. Our server, Ruby-May, was very helpful and friendly. She was able to advise on allergies and serving sizes, answering all of our questions. The roast its self was tasty but not the best we have ever had. The pork crackling was delicious but the roast potatoes were not crispy enough and the gravy not thick enough for our liking. The drinks were lovely and the setting was nice. We especially enjoyed sitting outside in the sun, where there is lots of seating. Overall, very nice. Aaron and his team are absolutely fantastic. The hospitality, warmth and friendliness of the whole team is brilliant, and the food is too. Used the meeting room as part of the day, which was well set up with digital capability which enhanced the meeting. Thank you! Can't fault the Milk Churn! staff and food! I sit and work here in the day sometimes and it's always a atmosphere and the staff always go above and beyond! Highly recommend for lunch and a outdoor area too! I even left my bank card at the bar once and they found me online so they could ring me to let me know! people, place👊🏼 Last night we had a to celebrate work colleagues leaving. There were 25 of us in total. Everything about the evening was excellent. The friendly/atttentive staff (manager and waitresses) who accommodated us with genuine flexibility/warmth. The standard of food was excellent for all courses. A memorable experience, thank you. A very big thank you to all the staff who worked on my party night. The service and the food were excellent. Everything we requested was supplied and everyone had a time.
