There was a house fire nearby at the time we were there and the pub team went above and beyond to help support the firefighters. I know it should be a given but these guys were superb. A pub to be proud of Upon entry we were literally greeted with a scowl from a young bartender and after asking if we could sit outside in the sun we were told not to open the parasols in case it rained as they are not waterproof. It was like we had to persuade the staff to let us in. It’s a shame because we had a great day visiting Devizes and the nice food and location of this pub would have topped off a nice day- however the attitude of the staff put a dampener on the experience. The food was hot,well cooked & the service polite. Definitely worth the cost & would recommend a visit. The food was a far cry from their own website. The toasted panni had very little cheese in it and the chips were dry. My husbands pie although tasty was soggy and the mashed potato was dry. The menu is nothing like the one on Google search. The IPA was not available and only one draught beer left. The staff were nice and friendly. The location is lovely alongside the canal. I wouldn't go back again Be aware: They sticker your car if left in the car park overnight! #encouragingdrinkdriving The sticker is large, impossible to remove and positioned in the middle of passenger window making it very hard to see oncoming cars etc. I felt so unwelcome here! Delicious food, would highly recommend to anyone to pop in & try the menu.
