Nice house and cosy place. As pilgrims, we needed a good place to rest, which is why we booked it. During the day it was warm outside, but at it's was freezing outside . The building was too inside. We asked for the heater, but it was only turned on for 30 minutes at 8 pm. Not very considerate for guests. I was not happy with this place. As per the owner's comments, I want to address everything mentioned here. I was sunbathing in the garden in short sleeves and shorts during a beautiful sunny day—it was warm and pleasant. However, around 7 pm it became cloudy and cold. When I went out for dinner, it was around 10°C with light rain, so of course I was fully dressed. I asked Mikel to turn on the heater because it had become very cold, even if the day had been warm. Regarding the comment about using the heater to dry laundry—did you actually see this happen in my room while I was out, or did you simply assume it based on what other pilgrims may do? Either way, it's inappropriate to make assumptions or enter the room without permission. It seems like these comments were written by Mikel, who only person who communicated during my stay. Please respect that guests have different temperature preferences. Just because some guests can tolerate nights doesn’t mean everyone can if it is true that the couple complained. I spoke to them in the kitchen after I was back to dinner, they were having tea due to being cold. You may mention other people? Please go back and look at the weather records during the night 25 and 26 April. Out of all the places I stayed during my 40-day Camino, this was the worst hostel experience. I hope my review helps future pilgrims who are looking for a warm and welcoming place. This is my personal experience, and I share it to help others make better choices. Buen Camino! I’ll be finishing my journey in Santiago on 26 May. Best wishes to all fellow pilgrims. This place is completely charming. Mikel is a wonderful host and made us feel at home. The room we stayed in was lovely and suited our needs. There’s a nice outdoor space with places to sit and relax. The property is surrounded by farmland with horses, cows, and sheep, which adds to the rural Basque Country charm. While the location is a little challenging to get to without a car, I still give the location 5 stars because it’s very relaxing and picturesque. The highlight of our stay was the incredible breakfast that Mikel prepared in the morning. Absolutely wonderful. I hope to come back one day. We had a very nice stay and enjoyed the relaxed and cozy atmosphere! Mikel was a great host and the breakfast was so good! I recently stayed with my wife and 4 family members during our Basque adventure. We were drawn to Txerturi Goikoa as we were looking for somewhere specifically to accommodate our large group. The house has gorgeous views given its rural setting, yet it’s very well connected to the rest of the Basque Country. I cannot overstate how accommodating Mikel is; attentive, considerate and available, we felt as though we were at home in a new land. Our rooms were modern chic with a strong Basque identity. I’ve travelled through much of Spain, but this was truly the pinnacle. We cannot wait to come back. Sincerest of thanks from my family and I. We had an amazing stay at Txerturi Goikoa, the house and the bedrooms are very charming. Special thank you to Mikel who kindly sent us many recommendations as to where to go/ visit / eat and hike. Good stay to enjoy nature and calm ! 😀 A beautiful place run by a wonderful person. We stayed there for 5 days and everything was perfect. Itziar prepares a wonderful breakfast in the morning and allows you to have a quiet drink on the terrace or in the garden in the evening. And in-between, the house is just a perfectly located starting point to going to the ocean, mountains or into the woods: it's ideally located in a natural landscape but also close enough to the main road running through the whole region. The house is also very pleasant, and the rooms are decorated with a lot of style. We highly recommend it.
