Decent walk, quite steep. Some areas are definitely ankle breakers. Takes 2-4 hours, take food, water. Amazing views, not too hard a climb, although being fat and unfit we had to take a few stops. Well worth it for the when you get to the top. The takes about 2-3 hours from the car to the peak and back, less time if you are more fit. Took the dog here, he loved it. A reasonably easy for the fit. Accessible from the car to the north. I prefer to climb up from Wiston Lodge to the south, it's a much quieter route and offers amazing views. A number of stone shelters at the top provide cover when it's wet and windy!! Great panoramic from the top. A nice hill climb that isn't arduous. Suitable for children who can for two hours. Boots with good ankle support should be worn. There is a wide track all the way from the car to the viewpoint and nearby trigonometry point. Allow about 1.5 hours planning ascent and descent times including a few short stops for a healthy person. Stunning to the Firth of Clyde approaches and Arran to the West, Arrochar hills to the North-West on a clear day. The River Clyde flows through scenic country to the West and North. North to East Lothian are good too. Great from the top, only missed 5 stars as the hike to the top is a bit monotonous with not much variation. On a clear day I see Tinto on the horizon from my local in the Ochills, so wanted to visit at least once Worth the trip. Loads of people run up to the top but it’s a challenging walk. Tinto Hill is a great and all of it is on a great path minus a small muddy section not long after leaving the car park. The are great even on a cold grey winters day! Lovely cafe just near the car for soup or coffee after your work Cracking walk, slightly challenging in places but nothing too severe. Manageable by most people! Decent gravel car but fills up fast at the weekend so get there early. Takes approx 1-2 hours to reach the summit depending on fitness level. Once there you are rewarded with stunning views.
