Excellent and tonight23/5/25 😋 You get 2 and it's freshly made .it's well worth my car journey from Bellshill. Only went in for this but 2 bags were more than enough. Have had the big supper small portion one and the large breaded supper before. Can highly recomend. Every thing fresh and well cooked. I was visiting the town and wanted a quick meal. Went into the restaurant upstairs. Asked for and salad and a coffee, with brown bread and butter. No coffee, no brown bread. When the meal first arrived, it came with chips. When it arrived a second time, it had some lack lustre salad and 70% of the was batter. The was dry and tasteless. The bread was a single slice of dry bread. When i went to pay, the cashier tried to charge me £16 instead of the £8.50. it took 2 staff before they got it right. My advice, give this place a miss. Had a supper to share, it is as delicious, not at all greasy, the place is spotless. If your looking for and in Biggar, this is the place to go. Fantastic and chips, sausage, battered haggis, pies etc (although no gravy available) they also do pizzas. Prices are great and portions are large too. Would definitely visit again and send to be very popular. Disappointing Experience – Wouldn’t Recommend We stopped at Townhead Café late in the evening after a long day of driving up from the south, absolutely starving and relieved to find a takeaway still open. Unfortunately, that relief quickly turned into regret. We ordered and — a classic — and waited long enough for a full stroll around the small town. Sadly, the food was nowhere near worth the wait. The were some of the worst I’ve ever had: soggy, undercooked, and completely tasteless. The wasn’t much better — mostly greasy batter, dripping with oil, with a tiny portion of actual inside. It genuinely felt like digging for treasure in a sea of oil, only to find a child-sized piece of fish. Most of the meal went straight into the bin. What little I did manage to eat left me feeling sick and uncomfortable for the rest of the night. Stomach pains and queasiness are not what you want after a long drive. I won’t be stopping here again, and I’d advise others to give this place a miss. There are better options out there — even if you’re desperate. A"proper" and chip restaurant. The food is freshly cooked in beef dripping and is coated in a good crispy batter. There is a wide selection of options to suit most tastes. Prices are good too. A flying visit to Scotland always has to include a haggis supper. First from here and was very nice indeed. Service a bit slow but only one fryer and one pleasant young lady serving and it was fairly busy. Will definitely break my journey in Biggar again next too. The was wafer thin. Disappointing as I remember stopping there before and it was very different. The were decent. Tick for that. The staff werent very friendly tbh, tried to engage and wasted my time. It wasnt cheap, which is what it is. Great supper. One of the best I've ever had and great service. Good portions and cost. Will be back. The most uninviting chippie I've ever been in. It's like a mausoleum. The most eye-catching thing is the hand-scribbled sign that says "Do not cross the barrier." Not sure what's on the other side. were undercooked and generally terrible. The exterior of the building had some charm. No need to go inside though. Do yourself a favour, head to the chippy in middle of the high street. Went to townhead today at lunchtime. Hands down the Worst I have ever had from a chippy. Zero taste to them, the tomato sauce is that watered down it’s just vinegar. How this chippy has won awards is beyond me, it’s certainly went down hill since. Lesson learned for next we are in biggar, wait for the other chippy to open. Visited yesterday Sat 18th Jan..ordered 2 steak pies one with chips. The pastry was uncooked and soggy. As I was 6 miles away it was not worth taking them back. Paying top prices and 2 pies straight in the bin. was acceptable though. Sorry guys I will not be opening your door again.
