Reaching the Valbonë Valley meant we were almost at the end of our long trail from Theth, and we couldn’t have been happier to finally be down here. The terrain in this part was a bit tougher—walking over loose rocks took more effort, and I could imagine that in certain seasons there’s water flowing through, making it an entirely different experience. The views here felt different from the higher parts of the hike—broader, more open, yet still absolutely stunning. Navigation can be a little tricky since there aren’t as many clear markers, but it’s still not really possible to get lost. And knowing that from this point you’re so close to the village of Valbonë gives you that final boost of energy. It’s a beautiful section of the trail, and for us, it carried that extra joy of being just steps away from our destination. Valbona is simply stunning. The end of summer weather was perfect for hiking. Located in northern Albania, Valbona Valley National Park is a natural paradise in the heart of the Albanian Alps. Known for its dramatic mountain peaks, crystal-clear rivers, dense forests, and charming alpine villages, the park offers some of the most breathtaking hiking trails in the Balkans. Whether you’re seeking adventure or peace, Valbona’s untouched beauty and warm local hospitality make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and explorers alike. Stunningly beautiful today with peak autumn colors. We hiked from Valbona to Theth and it was the highlight of our time in the Balkans. Valbona valley is simply magical, and you need to experience it yourself to truly believe it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed, especially if you're looking to take some time off, disconnect from the online world, and connect more with yourself. An amazing Valley that everyone must visit in Albania. Only did the hike up and back to Valbonë but it was all the way. I highly recommend. Many trails and hikes in the region. Valbona Valley is simply magical—an untouched paradise in the heart of the Albanian Alps. From the moment you arrive, you’re embraced by crisp mountain air, peaks, lush green forests, and crystal-clear rivers. It’s the perfect escape for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone craving peace and raw beauty. What makes it even more special is the warmth of the local guesthouses—cozy, welcoming, and serving homemade Albanian food that tastes like comfort. We woke up to mountain views, birds songs, and fresh air. It’s a place to feel alive. And we will definitely visit again. Wonderful place to visit. Truly for hikes and walks.
