We decided to try it, and it was indeed fresh and cold—but still, I’d say don’t risk it unless you’re sure. Officially, it’s better to stick to you know is safe. Luckily, Simoni Kafe had plenty of cold drinks, chilled naturally in the fresh stream, and there was enough seating for everyone to rest a bit. During our break, the owners’ horses returned from the pasture, which was a charming sight—but the star of the was definitely the cutest little kitten, who played with us the whole time. And then there was the toilet—a surprisingly sophisticated EU-style facility, probably the first real toilet we’d seen since leaving Theth, after about eight hours of hiking. It took me a moment to figure out how it worked, but in that heat, it felt like luxury. For us, Simoni Kafe wasn’t just a stop—it was a lifesaver on one of the toughest and hottest days of the trail. Great place for a first going from Valbone to Theth or a final from Theth to Valbone. We stopped here twice when we came and went to Valbone and really enjoyed this place to relax and have a drink. People here were friendly and I liked how they chilled the drinks. Nearby is a small waterfall. Coffee was good as well. Keep in mind that these people need to drag all of their stock (drinks, food, garbage,...) up and down the mountain. Make sure to bring cash and/or coins (euro or LEK). Prices reflect the fact that the owner has to lug all the and 5kg of milk up the - it is totally understandable! After this you won't get any until you pass the theth peak. After theth to valbone this is the first kafe you get. Refill from outside the for free but if you get inside you have to be a customer. The people here are friendly though prices are high but the frappe is literally amazing better than any you get in the whole of albania. Café très sympathique, bien placé pas très loin du sommet. The person sat down while the rest of us was waiting next to her, with the backpack on. The man that gave the drink came to us and told us very rudely to leave since we did not buy anything. Our friend could stay but we needed to leave, the place was fully empty and we did not even sit down. We asked why and he became angry, we started arguing on which he started threatening us. Please, don’t go there. The price is also steep, 3 euro! The bars later are cheaper (2.5) and nicer. If I could give less then 1 I would. Luckily a local guide stopped him from attacking us. A great to for a refreshment during your Simoni Kafe is an incredibly atmospheric spot, a true gem in the mountains. It's the perfect place to rest during a hike, offering cold and delicious hot coffee. The "working" bathroom with a flush toilet is a simple but very welcome luxury in such a remote location. Above all, it's a perfect campsite with absolutely breathtaking views. A must-visit for anyone hiking in the area. Very place with the good service. You're in an isolated area where these people only have a limited time to make their living (remember the track is closed from November to May and the peak times are June, July and August). I was so grateful for the lovely stop! The innkeeper (Pietr) was truly one of the kindest people I have ever met. We arrived with some friends, chilled from the rain, and he took care of us like a father. The tea was delicious, he even offered us rakija, let us warm up in front of his wood-burning stove, and enchanted us with his incredible life stories. A person we will not easily forget. Thank you! Rude attitude, very bad atmosphere, and in addition saw him abusing a stray dog cause he got close to the kafe. Do not give your money to that rude person! I had a very lovely night at this place. I spent the night at this Halfpoint for the Valbona-Theth and it was perfect. The host was incredibly friendly and along with some other travellers we had an amazing time cooking eating and drinking together by the fire. Theres a small campsite for tents and we were able to hang our Hammocks. The place is right by a freshwater source and i had some of the best coffee ever. Thank you Peter 🙋 Waiter was really rude, we sat down by the stream in the shade and he kicked us out to unbearable heat (like 35 °C) because we didn't order anything yet. (We were considering it) Never visit !!! Als het mogelijk was had ik absoluut een 0 gegeven. Deze man is uiterst onvriendelijk en zelf agressief. Mijn partner en ik maakte hier een stop, we namen 1 cola, vervolgens zei hij héél onbeleefd dat we dan niet beiden mochten blijven aangezien we geen 2 drankjes kochten. Toen we verontwaardigd zeiden dat hij dit ook vriendelijk mocht meedelen, zij hij ook dat hij de regels bepaald en niet wij als toeristen. Daarnaast is zijn prijs het hoogst (vergeleken met alle andere bars die je nog tegen komt). Persoonlijk zou ik deze plek absoluut vermijden en een bar verderop je nemen. Malgré nos achats, une seule personne a été autorisé à s’associer à l’intérieur (selon lui on a pas assez acheter pour qu’on puisse s’installer). Le serveur nous a agressivement réprimandés devant tout le monde. Il voulais agresser un de mes ami. Résultat: d’autres touristes sont aussi partis sans rien consommer. A ÉVITER ABSOLUMENT !!!!! Comment vous dire… tomber sur le Kafe Simoni, c’est un peu comme découvrir une oasis en plein désert, avec un chaudron rempli de boissons glacées, des tables bien a l'ombre, l’eau fraîche à disposition pour remplir les gourdes… tout invite à faire une vraie pause, à savourer la descente ou à reprendre des forces avant la montée. Mais au-delà du réconfort qu’offre cet endroit, ce qui nous a le plus touchés, c’est la gentillesse et la générosité de Simoni. Il incarne à lui seul l’hospitalité albanaise. Authentique, accueillant, généreux : ce genre de rencontre donne tout son sens au voyage. Le seul risque, c’est qu’une pause de 15 minutes se transforme en une heure sans qu’on s’en rende compte ! On y est restés bien plus longtemps que prévu, tout simplement parce qu’on s’y sentait bien, écoutés, reposés. Voilà probablement le meilleur conseil que je peux donner aux futurs randonneurs : s’arrêter chez Simoni, c’est un must-do. Leider wurde unser Besuch durch das Verhalten des Besitzers komplett ruiniert. Er war extrem unfreundlich und hat uns ohne nachvollziehbaren Grund aggressiv des Cafes verwiesen. Auf unsere Nachfrage hin konnte (oder wollte) er uns den Grund nicht erklären – vermutlich wegen Sprachbarrieren. Offenbar war er verärgert, weil eine Person aus unserer Vierergruppe nichts konsumiert hat. Das ist aus unserer Sicht völlig überzogen und in keiner Weise gerechtfertigt. Am Ende wurden wir sogar noch lautstark angeschrien. So ein Verhalten ist uns bisher selten begegnet – absolut enttäuschend. Perfect to refresh during your hike!
