Avebury Stones and Silbury Hill 💜 not to forget the crystal shops too......all round a wonderful day! England’s hidden secret. Bucolic chalk downlands that beautifully reflect the changing of the seasons. No Cotswolds tourist merry-go-round here. This is a place where people live and work. Nothing is shouted about; you have to get out there and find it. The only tourist coaches are the ones passing by on the M4 on their way to Bath. A true working landscape within reach of some of England’s most urban areas. I spend a lot of time walking the downs and rarely see another soul when I’m out there. Astonishing levels of tranquility in the busy South. Beautiful scenery and a great day out. Biblins bridge is a challenge for the nervous, but is all part of the fun. Be prepared for hills! The car parking system is not great and delayed our start by 15 mins by the time wee managed to get logged in. AND it's just cheeky to charge more on a weekend and a bank holiday. Opposite side of the hills that i normally walk the dog it's ok maybe not quit as picturesque as the otherside but they do have a white horse dug into the side of the hill if that's of interest. My Daughter took me for a birthday surprise. What an awesome place. The staff there are amazing, all very helpful. Visiting the house tour, you were left to walk around the designated areas, guides are around to help if you need to ask anything. But there's laminated cards with almost everything you need to know in every room. Very helpful. Our ordered afternoon tea was awsome, fresh tasty sandwiches/cakes, half bottle of Champagne. Best birthday ever. 72yrs young. 🤭🤗 Simply breathtaking vistas! A must visit, often understated location in the UK. Loved the whole experience 😁😜 We went to the bull in Stanford Dingley and we dined there. The food and service was good but a shame the Wednesday night roast as on there website was not available Wow. Just wow. This place has so many little nooks and crannies that you could go there over and over. I managed to find a beautiful hidden lake with loads of different species of birds. Including a swan, which I got a beautiful picture of. This place makes me feel like I'm travelling the world again. With loads of different terrains. This place is truly wonderful. Fabulous country walks along footpaths and canal toe paths with stunning views, luckily for me it is on my doorstep during the lockdown too! Stunning area, ran an ultra here, and regardless of how tired I was I could still appreciate the astounding beauty around me. Will return to visit Avebury stones in the future, rather than just running past.
