Beautiful place to visit for watching or walking around the 8km circular over to Inch Island and back. The scenery around Lough Swilly and surrounding countryside is very easy on the eye. You need to give at least 2 hours for the or add another 25 minutes, if you take a break at the coffee caravan on part of the walk. There's hides, 3 good carparks and toilet facilities situated around the walk. A long but beautiful full of nature and fantastic scenery. If you enjoy watching there is a variety of small to big to watch. The full loop is 8km and is totally flat all the way round, so it's suitable for all walking abilities. Nice views of the countryside, Lough Swilly and the local wildlife. The reserve is set up with decent amount of parking (3 sites), hides for observing the wildlife, a dog drinking station, litter bins and basic toilet facilities. 8km loop. Easy access, enough parking places. Beautiful space dedicated to and nature. This is a wonderful place to visit. There are a total of three carparks on the loop and each one has toilet facilities. The full 8km circular is pretty much all on the flat. There are some beautiful views and a varied array of birds. There are also hides available on the for more avid avian enthusiasts. But, even if you have no particular interest in this place is worth the visit. Heaven for watchers, a myriad of different breeds in a beautiful peaceful place, 3 car parks and hides Lovely walk, very accessible and rather flat. Wildlife is beautiful! Didn't spot white tail eagles this time but my partner has in the past. Flat 8km (5mile) around a fresh water lake. Great wild life, lots of especially during the migration time when some species stop off for a while during their migration. A few hids for watching also good for shelter during a passing rain shower. Great place to around plenty of wildlife keep an eye out for White Tailed Sea Eagles A pleasant around the reserve from Burt to Inch island and back via the road causeway. Lots of different wildlife to see from otters to different birds. The is flat and takes just over an hour, part along an old disused railway. The rest is a man-made path. This is a beautiful place with a fabulous abundance and variety of life. A lot of work has gone into creating the loop walk. It’s a wonderful facility and should have been a delightful experience. Sadly, it’s being spoiled by some inconsiderate dog walkers leaving piles of poo along the path, and some walking with dogs off the leash, despite the bins at regular intervals and notices on all the gates. Also being spoiled by local youths arriving at evening time, playing loud music, drinking and throwing bottles, etc, into the drainage ditch beside the car park. Definitely not what this reserve was created for!! 😡 We struck gold today. This is a great time to visit. Fields full of Whooper swans and greylag geese.
