Very disappointed. were in condition, the is fun to race on, but we paid for a Grand Prix format (10 qualifying + 30 race) But it was not what our group received. They had heats of 5 laps each which lasted 20 in total. There was a pothole on the which was a big safety hazard to people. I do not recommend and not going back there again. Have been to Athboy Karting 30+ times either with friends or with work events over the last few years and never had a bad experience! The lads are all bang on, the are and the is brilliant. Highly recommend for small or large groups, or even just to get out on yourself! Respectfully, I would like to correct the owner’s response. YES – there is a hole in the middle of the track. Please refer to the screenshots taken by different drivers. I challenge the kart to share a recent picture of that same location. Regarding the time, we never received more than what was actually delivered. Please check the lap records — we completed 10 laps with an average lap of around 45 seconds. The numbers don’t lie: that equals roughly 7 and 30 seconds on track. In fact, one of the screenshots of the lap times was provided directly by the kart itself. We made a booking for 48 people, which means 48 dissatisfied customers are now leaving reviews based on their own experiences. Unfortunately, our visit to Athboy Karting was far from what we expected. The facilities appear to be in poor condition, and the overall operation seems disorganised and unprofessional — almost as if it's being run by a group of inexperienced youths. There was no access to drinking water on-site, the staff seemed confused and unprepared, and the safety equipment provided (helmets and gloves) was noticeably outdated. Shockingly, there's a literal hole in the middle of the that had been covered up with a bit of paint instead of being properly repaired, a major safety concern. Before making the booking, the organiser of our group contacted the to confirm pricing and the racing format. We clearly ask for 10 of practice/qualifying and 30 of racing and the karting replayed with the price and asked to book "it online. Based on that confirmation, we proceeded with the booking. However, upon arrival, we were told that they don’t offer that format and that the best they could do was 10 of qualifying and 20 of racing — with no proper explanation or apology. To make matters worse, the qualifying results weren’t even used to set the starting grid. It was unclear whether this was due to a lack of interest or simply disorganisation. The race itself was chaotic, with staff repeatedly stopping the session every few just to regroup the drivers, which completely ruined the flow of the race. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I’ve never encountered anything like this at a karting before. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place to others. A nice track, quite long and winding. The crew was young but competent and very polite. It was great fun, we'll definitely be back. Other reviewers are complaining about a hole on the track, there is a hole despite the karting denying it in the responses. This would not meet safety standards anywhere decent. Simply drawing a line around the hole to say "it's not on the anymore" or "it's only a technical area, that nobody would end up in" is unacceptable. The pedal was unreactive on occasions as well, losing time. Compared to all other tracks in Ireland, whiteriver, pallas, railway karting, and maybe Midlands karting, this place is run very poorly. Athboy Karting is a very rewarding to drive with a mixture of fast bends and challenging corners. I raced with the SuperPro class in both Motorsport Ireland and also with Tullyallen Karting Club (TKC) for over 20 years, and without doubt Athboy Karting is one of the best run, friendliest and engaging tracks to visit. In addition their hire are very quality for groups that don't want the hassle of owning their own karts. The racing surface is very well maintained and they host a variety of motorsport enthuasists from karts, to pit-bikes and mini-motos. I have always found the facilities well maintained and decently appointed. The photographs below are of various SuperPro races in Athboy over the years. John O'Donoghue (Ashbourne, Meath) Really enjoyed our experience at the center over the weekend! It was my partners first and my second here. The staff are knowledgeable and are keen to help/give tips if they notice you're struggling or messing up a turn the same way (that was me the first I was there lol). The itself is varied and you can build up speed with the gentle hill. You get a few laps to get to know the and after that they your best lap and that that for the race. The helmets were also and clean. Same with the karts, they were and we didn't have any issues. There was someone who had to switch during the first few laps. Overall, it's very fun and I recommend it! Really enjoyed the and the track. High speed and grip, my only complaint is that they didn't give us our lap times afterward. Didn't get an email or a sheet of paper or anything, which for me was a big disappointment as im very competitive and I want to know how I did in comparison to a very fast driver. I hope this was a once off thing.
