The best preserved (and nicely restored to the extent possible) monastery in Estonia! Well, it is the only one still standing in a recognizable form. Well worth a visit and wandering around. If old ruins are not your thing, then don't go, because you'll see nothing else. It was fairly interesting to me. This monastery belonged to Cisterian monks, who were very austere. Don't expect any art. They had places to eat, sleep, pray and work, and that's what you'll see. A nicely preservated sight, but the Interiors Lack some further content Lovely spot if you're into a bit of history. Could do with a few interactive bits or a treasure hunt or summat. Cracking for a quiet stroll or a chill day out. The monastery museum is amazing. I was not expecting much but there is a lot to explore and we spent around three hours there. Of course, you can spend less time there and still cover the whole museum. There are a lot of creepy stairs leading to the basement which we enjoyed exploring. The monastry is well maintained but ruins are maintained in such a manner that your imagination can run wild. There weren't many people when we visited so it felt like we had the place to ourselves and it felt spooky to explore at times. There are also a couple of games for children and adults. The information available is interesting but it could be written in a more engaging manner. There was too much text and architectural details which was often hard to follow. Overall it's a really nice museum. The gardens and neighboring area is very pretty to sit and have lunch. I would highly recommend a visit. They have a nice gift shop too. Lovelly atmosphere in this old manor paired with ruins of old monastery. Would have stayed longer but cafe was closed this summer It has been in ruins almost since America was discovered. And stiil has a 300-years long story to tell. Strong recommend! Interesting place to go, quite well preserved, well maintained and not too crowdy. Recently entrance fee has been intoduced.
