Very place !!!!! It has exhibition to share with you more about the royal family and you would understand better about Sweden Royal family & history. The park around is amazing. They sure spend million energy to take care all as it carries with multi and it has some are so special. Many apple tree, berry and others vegetable they farm and present in way. They also put some culture decoration around which you can enjoy a lot. Please come over during summer time Don’t miss it !👍🏻❤️ Such a beautiful experience. Wonderful nature. It's a bit expensive to get in, but you don't go there often I guess. Check it out. Two adults visited Sofiero Palace as part of a 2 week bus tour of Scandinavia in late August and thought it was ok but nowhere near as good as its brochures portrayed it. The building itself had some strange “art” exhibits in it, mostly in Danish and some in English. We ate a light lunch in the restaurant and enjoyed it. The highlight was the one hour garden tour. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining and we just barely had to sample the extensive grounds. We would have loved to spend more exploring the grounds with their beautiful and flowers. Not recommended for a rainy day. Beautiful gardens. Great guide and wonderful lunch. Worth a visit. That was a perfect place to see, there are lots of and design also was nice, next the sea. Different kinds of trees.. I'm happy that I could've been there. I can suggest everyone to go there. And lastly it's a really good to go with children, they were happily playing there. Magical place with floral taken care by masters. We visited on a Saturday in August and it was not crowded (apart from a wedding in front of tge castle) and the weather was nice. Definitely worth a visit! A lovely little castle with huge grounds. On the grounds there is a lot to see, both beautiful and interesting rhododendron areas, as well as the sea. Gorgeous summer palace with well tended sprawling gardens. Dahlias and Rhododendrons galore. Some flower beds have been kept the same for decades. The interior is so colorful and whimsical with storytelling placards. Be sure to have lunch on the back terrace! Beautiful and as well very surprising place. Unexpected beauty. Unfortunately for us, we were too early for most of the spring blooms (the park was not officially open, and we didn't need to buy tickets), but it was not hard to see that it is a spectacular place when the are out. There are even little "forests" for the kids to play in. We will be back at a better time, for sure. Well worth the little detour to visit. EDIT / UPDATE We returned later in the season and the grounds were lovely. Plenty of out to enjoy and more importantly, the buildings were open to inside. The "castle" is lovely and I am so glad to have been able to see it. There was an art exhibit inside (it was only so-so), in addition to the historical exhibit (well worth the to read). I think we will return for out third later in the fall when the leaves have turned colour. Bottom line: We made two trips from Oslo (14 hours total driving each time) to see this place and are planning a third trip, so I think it is very high on out list, based on our willingness to undertake such a long trip. Beautiful large garden. Lovely palace. But the rhododendrons are the best. We’ve being to Sofiero park numerous times. On our last visit, however, the main building was closed for renovations (August, 2023). Unfortunately, no information was provided in advance on the website (otherwise, we would have altered our date for a ) and the entrance-ticket was still at full price…. Amazing to see the sculptures from Canada in the Royal Swedish park. I can suggest the best for a would be June, when all the rhododendrons are in blossom. It usually takes up to 2-3 hours to walk around through the entire area, but one can easily spend full day here. Lots of options for kids to play. Also, plenty of parking spots (free), a very coffee and sweets selection. If you buy tickets online, you can save up to 20 SEK for 2 persons. Definitely, one of the most wonderful places in Sweden. I have been here several times. In the summer the are magnificent. My most recent was to Höstljus last night Nov 4 2024. it was my first to this event and it was AWESOME. Beautiful display of lights accompanied with music as well as art. Kid friendly and educational. Something for everyone to enjoy. I highly recommend this event. If you attend, get a cup of the Italian hot chocolate it is good. Beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Has many assortments of flowers, trees and plants. It's a truly tranquil place and has a place to sit and watch the boats sail by in the sound.
