Heard mix reviews, but it was lovely place and the food was lovely. Met up with friends and everyone enjoyed the food. We both really enjoyed our at The Thistle Inn. The portions were plentiful. We were really pleased to get a decent amount of veg with our food too. Desserts were tasty, and we were happy overall. The only complaints I had was that we waited quite a long time to be served our drinks. We'd already finished our starters before being served our drinks, and the disabled toilet was of no use whatsoever to any disabled person. It was being used as a storeroom, and was so full of dining chairs, you couldn't possibly get from the door to the toilet. Apart from that, we will go back again, due to the delicious food 😋 Compliments to the Chef. Delicious food. service. server-very professional and engaged really well. On our experience tonight, I would recommend. We had such a nice dinner here, that we came 2 nights in a row. food and service. A bonus for serving food later than many other places (husband was at Troon for the golf, so we needed something serving later than 830pm). Friendly, quick service. A real find in this area. As always a very comfortable stay our room was tastfully decorated very clean and most importantly a cosy bed. Staff were and helpful at all times. The menu catered for everyone which was tasty. We will be back at New year. We did not have a booking made for lunch at The thistle we dropped in on spec, where a cheery waitress greeted us, The Thistle burger was amazing ticked every box, a warm, and food experience, will be back Could be the best out I’ve had this year, absolutely spot on. Would definitely recommend Absolutely amazing, food and staff. value for money Full disclosure, this review isn’t based on a single visit, rather it’s informed by numerous visits since The Thistle reopened. Perhaps as such makes it arguably better / more informed as a result. What I’m trying to emphasise is the consistency in terms of quality and that I’ve fortunately become accustomed to. I, along with the help of those I’ve enjoyed a with, have systemically worked our way through the menu - what a pleasure it has been. It’s not 5 star dining, nor should there be an expectation of such, what it is though is a significant step up from normal pub food. Some highlights have been, for Starters: Creamy Garlic Mushrooms, Scotch Egg and Soup of the Day. For Mains: Cumberland Sausage, Lasagna, Gammon Chop, the Mixed Grill, Buttermilk Chicken Burger and not forgetting the impressive Thistle Burger which is fast becoming a favourite from what I’ve seen. In the interests of transparency - I have not sampled any Desserts, mainly because I don’t routinely have a third course. For a snack / lunch, the Triple Stack Club and Warm Charred Steak sandwiches are first class, especially when accompanied by the aforementioned soup or chips / fries. A rarity, the chefs are visible and engage with diners (where demand / time constraints allow), a rarity and perhaps unique. Generically there’s a proactivity with staff to obtain feedback, which so far has been unanimously positive. What supplements the above, and binds it all together is the and a quality pint!
