Food is great although we did end up with lots of scraps rather than actual chips... Also it's better value to buy from the takeaway menu. We noticed a huge difference (up to a fiver) between to eat in and take out. Lovely and chip shop. Everything you'd expect on the menu with some great sides like halloumi etc. As a family of 4 we had a takeaway to eat on the beach although there is a decent sized indoor seating area available. Our food was made fresh, in good time and well packaged. very friendly, polite and helpful. Well worth a visit. Called in for Tea while in New Quay this week. & Chips, Scampi & Gravy and 2 x & Seafood Baskets? which had Cod Bites, Scampi, Calamari and Squid. All nice and freshly cooked and hot. Sat in which was a bonus. Service was great, very friendly staff. Will call again when we next visit New Quay. Positives. Pleasant staff, clean, nice batter, good chips. Negatives. I've never had such a small piece of cod. It was smaller than a child's portion, and less than half the size of the large (this was a small). Wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't so overcooked. It was so thin than the was very dry and overcooked, couldn't taste it. Parts of the large piece on the other hand was cooked the right amount and quite tasty. We ended up sharing the large as small was inedible, and more expensive than further down the road which was twice the size and much nicer yesterday. Bought two lots of and gravy cost almost ten pounds they were disgusting the were grey and undercooked will never go there again Pleasant and was cooked to order, however extremely overpriced ... I thought the haddock (priced at over £8) was the small cod when I saw it placed in the take away bag, until I watched them pick up a piece of cod not much bigger than a cod bite at other establishments !! ... over £6 for literally a few bites of - im afraid we will try elsewhere in future. a very warm atmosphere and sociable staff. After one night the knew what my order was going to be. for an establishment that must deal with hundreds of people in a day I was very impressed that both myself and my simple order of with peas on a tray with gravy was remembered by the staff. I would recommend The Captains Rendezvous to anybody without hesitation. Cooked fresh so a bit of a wait but understandable but the batter was greasy and more batter than it also looked like we got the tail end of the too lots of bits and not many full chips.
