It’s set in very old-style park with gaudy flower beds, and war memorials. There is some seating also. Very nice. Attractive small with well kept, vibrant flower displays, a war memorial and the ruins of a Franciscan friary adding historical interest. There's plenty of seating around the gardens, easily accessed by well surfaced paths, and lots of shade from the trees. Worth a quick detour while exploring Richmond. Discovered this beautiful and peaceful little garden while on a short visit to Richmond. It was just a five minute walk from the busy market square, along the narrow Friar's Wynd and through a medieval postern gate next to the Georgian Theatre. The gate once led to a Franciscan friary, and the ruins of its bell tower dominate the garden. There's also a wishing well, a beautifully kept war memorial, and an amazing sculpture carved from a tree trunk. See how many carved plants and creatures you can spot! The lawns and flowerbeds looked very well tended, and the spring flowers were a riot of colour. Lots of benches around the garden. There's a bus stop next to one of the entrances, and a short stay car park close by. A tranquil haven where you can relax away from the bustle of the town centre. Remains of the old friary in Richmond, lovely and close to the market square, the Georgian theatre and close to the river. Parking may be a problem. Lovely picturesque garden in the centre of Richmond. Plenty of seats to relax Lovely gardens, attended a vetrans day Visited here for the short service for Armed Forces Day. Very moving and beautiful. The garden is beautifully kept a d very peaceful. Personally I think it's great to go somewhere dogs aren't allowed. They seem to be everywhere these days. A nice open space to relax (weather permitted) and watch life go by. There are the remains of the tower of the original Friary and a beautifully carved tree and the also include the towns war memorial. Small but beautifully kept we just had a chilled relaxed meander around the area. It's just off town but you don't notice the traffic passing well maintained peaceful quiet relaxing. Sat and chilled on the benches as we walked. Lovely place to visit maybe a picnic. Place very clean well kept. Very much worth a visit. A beautiful place with lots of of sculptures to look at. The friary are amazing to visit in all weathers. The are well tended! But dogs are not allowed, which is rather disappointing -plenty of benches to sit on. Immaculate well maintained gardens. I should have done more research before visiting as there is no chip shop here. Though it's a nice spot to admire the flowers and see Santa later in the year. Fantastic for kids. So peaceful.
