Lovely farm shop just off the main A road. Lots to look at and a wide choice of cooked and uncooked meats . The garden section was lovely to look around and a few good bargains to be had . We had a late lunch one day and the food was good quality. They are in the process of completing their orangery and this was a little haphazard. Will go back once completed. The upstairs homeware was my favourite area. cafe with lots of seats and very quick friendly service. Lots to see like the deli, cloths and more. Only critisim is getting out. A66 very busy. Would be better if there were separate right and left exits (if they were allowed?). Liked it here. Good range of meals to choose from. Food was great. All the staff we spoke too were friendly and welcoming, the farm shop had a good range of stuff to buy. The meat was brilliant, only 4 stars simply because it's not completely dog friendly in the building, apart from in the heated marquee, understand why in the area where the meat and cheeses are but the rest could be dog friendly, dogs are cleaner and better behaved than children these days😁🤫🫣. What a fantastic place. Whilst yes the prices are higher than normal shops, I didn’t think they were excessively so and the quality you are buying is obvious. There is an enormous range of things to buy from fresh food, clothes, gifts, Christmas items (we visited 18 October) and the cafe food was delicious. Well done to Mainsgill farm shop for not charging way too much. I believe they have hit the sweet spot between affordability and higher quality. Having said that, I still can’t afford Barbour stuff 🙃 Over the last 5 years when we come up for a visit and this time we stopped, WOW!!!! What a farm shop it is so much to choose from and a place to stretch your legs (people and dogs). We will never just drive passed again. Absolutely beautiful view while having lunch here, the food and dessert is fantastic just how I like it- thick ,creamy and delicious! There are too many choices, as we would like to try a bit of everything, which is hard to make decisions. One of the best spot to spend your day. This is a location to visit with your family, The staff is friendly and always willing to help, The cafe has fantastic food with presentation always its worth value for money. The animals is to see so the kids can see where the food comes from. The shop area has range of goods. Such a fantastic little gem just before reaching Cumbria! Nice selection of things too. We didn’t get a chance to try the café (it was buzzing with people and we were short on time), but it looked lovely. Definitely planning to stop by again—worth the visit!
