Came here in the late afternoon for a quick visit. Since we're members entrance was free. Our English Bulldog was welcome on the site as well. The site is very nice and green. Very quiet when we've visited with only a handful of visitors. Surprising. Because even though not the biggest, it is a very interesting and beautiful castle. The big 13th-century round tower was built by Richard, Earl of Cornwall. You can climb up to the top to enjoy the of the beautiful valley. The also served as prison and was also used as the base for the Cornish Royalist defence of the county. A very pleasant visit. Nice history, great surroundings. A small souvenir shop at the entrance as well. We enjoyed it. We parked our car at the nearby Westgate Street Multi-Storey Car Park and Coach Park. Only a few steps away. Amazing place to Another of the English Heritage castles. £10-50pp entry which I think is a bit pricey for what you are getting. It's the remains of one of the towers, and that is about it. Realistically you can do it in 20 / 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. On site gift shop selling the usual bits, we did pick up a couple of liquors which might be nice! Lady in the shop was very friendly and knowledgeable. Full of history, the staff very polite and professional. The grounds very clean, the ruins in very good condition considering its age and what it's been through. The from top are amazing more so on a clear day, my was on an overcast day. Children enjoyed the steps and views! We loved Launceston Castle. We went with our 1 year old who just started walking so he loved all the steps to the top. It was pretty cheap as well for only around £8 each. The from the top are stunning, but a bit of a trek. The museum is small but very detailed, there was redding material for children and adults and a little gift shop.
