What a place to sit and chill with a few drinks. There was food available, too. The Bute distillery runs the bar and it's open till 8 pm every night. The thing is it's all under cover in a big barn, so it's dry and warm. The bar stocks a large variety of drinks at prices. The kitchen has a limited menu, but all the food we ordered tasted nice. There was meant to be live music, but no one turned up. The toilets, outside but covered as well, we're immaculate, we'll done the cleaners. beer, prices and a atmosphere. Had fantastic fish and chips and a pint of local craft ale. What a gem! Nice outdoor seating, more insight and different pop-up food concepts and some live music here and there. Where to start. I was here yesterday with my sister for a market (Brittany Ferguson Art, Watercolourist) and my goodness is it the most fabulous venue. First time visiting and can't wait to come back for more markets in Dec. Amazing food, drinks and staff were so friendly. It was a brilliant day from start to finish. I worked at Bute Yard in the kitchen for the weekend for their Pride festival and the Sunday service too. It is such a lovely and hidden gem up the main street near the castle. Worth a for the food, especially as other places can be closed at the weekend, or close early for food, this has indoor and outdoor access, it's dog friendly, has a bar for drinks, and fully equipped kitchen for food. It is hidden away and might be missed or overlooked. But just walk up the high street past the castle and it's right there. 5 mins from the ferry! This was a highlight of our to Rothesay. Not well signposted so truly a hidden gem. The outdoor seating area wasn't our choice but looks good. We opted for the cavernous inside and the gin flight. Difficulty deciding which 4 gins each to pick from the selection as we have different palates. Barmaid on hand to offer advice and we settled down on the long bench style seating with our 4 samplings each. Both agreed Calum's Cabin was our favourite! So has to buy a bottle to take home. Interesting pictures from yesteryear too. Would highly recommend it as a must do to anyone who likes a gin! A short walk from ferry terminal in centre of Rothesay, near the castle. Modern 'warehouse' setting with largely indoor & also outdoor courtyard shared tables. Made-to-order fresh food in 'pop up' catering style (at our evening this was individually made pizzas). Quality good. Large bar, selling locally brewed beers, lager & spirits. Live music throughout the evening. Excellent, atmospheric communal eating experience! Suitable for families too, as was evident from the many youngsters there with parents at the time of our visit. Highly recommended. Having found it difficult to go anywhere for a drink with the kids, The Bute Yard was a welcomed site and a place to stop, a selection of drinks to choose from in a really nice chilled atmosphere. The kids really enjoyed their Belgian waffles and we would definitely again if we were on the island. Music venue with different food caterers on each evening. The food was very good. Not for going out as a group ass it's noisey & there are big bench tables to sit at. Toilets are outside in portacabin units through a set of fire doors which are extremely difficult to get back.into the main building unlesssomeone let's you back in! for a drink, terrible food service. Locals skipping the queue leaving very little to offer once we got served after waiting for over an hour in the queue. Such a shame, had a night otherwise. location, atmosphere, live music. Poor food which was overpriced for what it was (£14 for Lebanese rice and chicken pieces, and a Moroccan dish which were meant to be something special and flavoursome but wasn't. Gorgeous venue, really friendly staff, brilliant bar and food. It is such a place to with groups and has lots of space to sit and relax. Really warm friendly atmosphere and would definetely come back. Lovely atmosphere and fun Friday night was a joke. We waited 50mins on a pizza, and we were not alone, families as well had to wait the same length of time. Fast food it wasn't. No explanation or apology. Very poor. Not a advert.
