Didn't use hookup but was very close if needed. Toilets and showers were fine. Showers £1 for 8 mins of hot water which is adequate for two people to shower. On sight cafe / restaurant was very nice with friendly staff. Location is great. Steep hills to get there but there are buses. Good spot for quick cut thru lane to Mount stuart. I think this is only campsite for tents on Bute, a beautiful island. Facilities are new and good with free , powerful hot showers, a wash up area, small laundry, a socket for a hairdryer , and hooks in the shower ( though not by sinks) . The grass is thick ,if slightly sloping. You can park next to your tent.. it's quiet. We were able to email and stay the same day' ie walk in' even though website won't let you . There are no views from the pitches as they are ringed by static caravans but at least they are sheltered. There's nowhere to charge phones (unless you have electric hookup) or freeze ice packs. Bute was on my bucket list for our tour of Scotland. Really wanted to book on the campsite but no spaces available (not sure if tents are accepted, we didn’t see any). Felt very lucky to find a glamping pod available for three nights at a very reasonable cost. What luxury!! We arrived slightly early but the lady we spoke to was extremely welcoming and invited us in straight away. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Beautiful flower borders. £1 for 8 mins of hot water in the shower which was more than enough time. Great base for exploring the island. Thank you. Utterly hopeless campsite. I'm sure it's lovely for campervan and caravans, but for a it's awful. We left after 1 night, and a fellow camper actually told me he wasn't even going to bother staying at all and went straight back to the mainland. Firstly, the grass is no where near suitable for tents as it's on a relatively steep hill. Not only does this mean that you slide all over the place through the night, but also that if there is any wind, it is easily able to get under your tent. This mixed with the absolutely solid ground, meaning you can't put pegs in properly, means that your will not last the night in anything other than good summer conditions. I'm an incredibly experienced camper, 3 of my pegs continuously came out through the night and I had to keep attempting to fix the tent. Secondly, you have to pay an additional charge to use the shower facilities. This is not clearly advertised, and to me, completely negates the point of a campsite. I enjoy wild camping, and only used this site for the showers, so this was a massive let down. Thirdly, where the area is is in the centre of a large amount of lodges. It gives the feeling of camping in the back garden. Only positive, the location is great for Rothesay. Overall, this has to be one of the poorest campsite experiences I have had. Another very enjoyable 3 nights stay here at Roseland. Easy to book and received an email containing all relevant park information prior to arrival. Toilet block adequate and clean. We stayed on the larger awning pitch which did need levelling chocs but no big deal! Bute is a beautiful and friendly island. Already looking forward to our next visit. Just the worst camping site. The field is on an incline and the view is of caravans. All this might be bearable but the toilet and showers are like something out of a prison of war camp! A concrete block with mixed men and woman’s facilities, no heating and just grim. Washing machine broken when most needed! Give it a miss and go wild camping.
