Nice place to stop for a break, especially as there is nowhere else in the area. Looks like a large family concern as there is the pub and restaurant in one part of the building, and cafe in the other, there is also a small general shop on the same site. Adequate parking to the rear of the site, up a small slope. Cafe was quite busy when we dropped in, but the was friendly and efficient. Small menu for the cafe but I understand the restaurant has a larger menu. Would recommend for a quick stop off. Food was great, nice size portions, was a little on the slow side but think this was because we landed at a fairly busy time, it looks a nice place, signs on the car park welcoming bikers etc, and it certainly was a welcoming atmosphere. There is a small carpark. We enjoyed looking at the many photos on the walls showing the buildings' varied history too. The gardens are nice with seating dotted about nicely spaced away from each other. Enjoyed the visit and would recommend 🙂 Been here many times for food when it was a pub and we were holidaying in the area. Was passing yesterday on our way home after holidaying further south so stopped for a late lunch. It still has the same homely atmosphere, good food and friendly service. I had the roast vegetable pudding and it was delicious. Very tempting looking array of cakes available. I was too full from my generously sized lunch but daughter's lemon and blueberry cake looked delicious and she said it was. Top quality we come once a week and the food is top quality. Verry friendly at all times it's alwase on the top of our list for where to go and eat sit down and relax.. highly recommend a visit you will alwase come back. Very overpriced food. Poor quality. For one breakfast with tea and toast (which aren't included), you're looking at £18. Meat undercooked. Slow service, high prices but must serve yourself cutlery and order at bar. Have tried several times, but this place does not get better. Have had extremely rude interactions with owners in past. High chairs filthy. Will be avoiding in future. Nice cafe for bikers hikers cyclists. Has accommodation but didn't stay. Beautiful countryside and biking/cycling routes. I had a great breakfast this morning and have had several meals in the Trout Cafe. Food is always excellent, is good and staff are always friendly and courteous. Very much surprised by the negative comments as myself and family enjoyed breakfast here this morning. Will definitely be returning. We booked for one night and stayed for two, which says it all really. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a large bathroom and huge shower, and there was a very varied and plentiful breakfast, which was very tasty. What made our stay special, however, was the welcome from Dave who couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We shall return when next in the area.
