Absolute perfection from start to finish. The team are all individually personable, very professional and refreshingly accommodating. A great selection of high quality drinks (the local ales are the best!) and the food... my goodness. Delicious and beautifully presented. The soup was full of flavour, the lamb was perfectly cooked and the chocolate mousse was light and fluffy. Even the bread was a treat. Fantastic atmosphere in a beautifully presented restaurant. We were staying in the area for two weeks and this was comfortably the best restaurant we visited. The atmosphere is and cosy, the decor is tasteful, the owner and staff were very welcoming and the food was superb. Highly recommended. I ate here on Saturday 20th September,we were a party of 7 ladies. This is an exceptional restaurant, boasting tasteful and cosy decor, perfect for a group or a couple. The menu is exciting and offers local produce . The lady server was very and approachable but professional. The food was delicious, I had the kipper pate which was awesome, followed by the lamb which was meltingly delicious. We all enjoyed our food. The sauvignon blanc was also excellent. The portions are huge so if you want a pudding skip the starter. Id definitely recommend and would definitely return. I vote with all the other positive reviews. It was busy when I arrived for lunch with a big backpack but they squeezed me in. Food was great as others say. Welcome was friendly. Something I’d add: despite being full it wasn’t too noisy and conversation would have been easy without straining. Visiting here as it was recommended in a guide book as a spot for lunch and it totally surpassed my expectations! The price was reasonable and offered a unique lunch option as I don’t eat meat or fish (I had the goats cheese salad) which was fresh crunchy and well balanced. Truly enjoyed this lunch spot! Lots of lovely cakes on show too but we didn’t try. Our welcome when you open the tiny door was a little odd as two younger waitresses almost looked panicked by our arrival, but there were plenty of tables and we were seated straight away. We were seen straight away too and gave our orders. The food also arrived swiftly and the staff were friendly. Overall lovely experience. The tables were located quite tightly together and we did overhear another diner complaining that their eggs were watery and cold but we didn’t choose that option. It was a nice spot we will definitely be back!! Popped in for a quick drink. However, scones were on the menu so it would have been rude not to sample one. Scone was warm and delicious, service was friendly, prices reasonable, and the place has a nice atmosphere. Would visit again. Nice little café to have soup and a sandwich. The food is really good, and the service is great. Quite excellent! The young servers are friendly, civil, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a massive teacake between the 2 of us, and the most excellent crab sandwich and carrot cake. We can heartily recommend, and will be back. Had a great meal here, food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic. The owners were very welcoming, happy to have a quick chat, even when they are super busy, would definitely go back. Being a vegetarian is always slightly difficult but they catered for me too, we all said how great it was. Sorry the photo of desert was when it was finished, it was just too and forgot to take a photo! 😋 Superb, freshly prepared food from a short but varied menu, with wines and friendly, "can do" service. We were a party of 6, accommodated at short notice, and all of us would have happily returned another night. Lovely evening meal. Food was delicious; the fact the menu offers only about 6 mains options is a sign that everything is prepared to order. Service good, nothing negative to say. Oh, padded chair seats would be nice!
