I do like this pub. Lots of memories of great north bike rides and stopping here to rest. Motorbike trips up the coast and lunches on the way. The atmosphere is great. The staff are friendly. I didn't like the chips that's much...and that is my only downside. I prefer them to be crispy. If your passing by pop in. The food choice is also good and reasonably priced. Food was good, service was really friendly and professional, well done. Only issue that it was really cold inside, been for Sunday roast last Sunday at 12, and the room was freezing. We had a nice meal here. The staff were friendly and attentive, the decor was nice, the food was okay. (To be fair, I am not keen on too much grease, so someone less fussy might rave about it.) The prices were okay, though not cheap. To be honest, I didn’t especially enjoy my visit, but apart from a very sticky table, I can’t really fault it. We were getting hungry on a miserable day in September and found this lovely pub. Great food and very helpful staff. And they do heineken 0 on draft, handy for the drivers (like me). Had a lovely visit to the Widdrington Inn recently. The wheelchair access was around the side of the building, and it was easy to navigate, which was a big plus. I ordered the burger, and it was absolutely gigantic—and tasted fantastic! Even though the place was quite busy, we still got our food in good time, which was impressive. The only minor downside was the orange cordial, which could have been better, but overall, it didn’t take away from a great meal and experience. Definitely a spot I’d recommend! Just had lunch here. We ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich for £9 and a ploughman's for £15. After a very lengthy wait of about 45mins the resulting meals were not great. The bread on the sandwich was not particularly fresh. It did come with an unexpected side of chips. The biggest disappointment was the ploughman's. One third of the plate was an uninspired salad of shredded lettuce with a couple cherry tomatoes, a couple pieces of thin sliced cucumber and sliced red onion on top. Another third was taken up with a ramekin holding 3 boiled potatoes and a pre wrapped single portion of butter. 2 slices of ham,one boiled egg 2 pickled beetroot and 2 pickled onion. I couldn't even see the cheese at first. 2 triangle slices of cheddar. Not in my opinion £15 worth. I wouldnot recommend. We were table of 5 who ate mid week. None of our food was necessarily hot. I had the special which was beef teriyaki noodles, which was tepid warm. Two people had steak pie, supposedly the large portion, which quite honestly was a rip off, it barely filled the plate and also wasn't hot. It would have been too much faff and wait to send the food back, and we were also with guests so not ideal but please make sure your food is piping hot. Overall a nice pub and nice location but I probably wouldn't rush back, certainly not for food. The bar staff were lovely as was the cleanliness of the pub. Amazing experience . We live locally and we visited with friends . Great atmosphere . The manager is so welcoming , great sense of humour but mainly polite and caring . We were the last to leave ( we didn’t realised ) but he never made us feel the pressure to leave . Food also amazing , well done chef ! Definitely value for money . We had pork belly and house burger and then crème brûlée for dessert . Everything was spot on and so tasteful . We will definitely go back .
