Badly understaffed. Room in poor condition. Just two to run pub and kitchen. No at all in the morning. Just a box to drop your key. Room had stained carpets cracked windows. Bed was soft. Awful instant coffee. Desperately needs investment. A lovely cosy traditional pub in the heart of the village. Perfect! If you are to advertise on your website that you are open and have all the lights on and boards outside, then why close.? We walked to the pub with anticipation of having a bite to eat only to be told that they were closed and the people that were currently drinking were “drinking up” to go home - this was 7.37 on a Sunday night. Update your website. Just walked out what looks like a lovely pub, one member of on, running the bar and reception on a Saturday evening at 7pm 🙄 unfortunately we had already ordered the a drink but after seeing the chef walk out the toilet without washing his hands I don’t think we will be eating there. Come on this is basic hygiene, not good. Won’t be bothering with this pub again. Had a meal here today 17th oct at mid day. Superb service and excellent meals for the four of us. Will definitely come here more often as well worth the drive Despite being nearly Christmas, they managed to squeeze us in when we had friends visit and we needed to find a place for lunch last-minute with a group of nine. Clive was great with the kids, and very friendly. The food was good and well priced. Great carvery but when we went, short ment waiting a long time for food and over half an hour for pudding. Not blaming the they worked so hard but management should have dealt with this on remembrance sunday amd ensured proper staffing. Stopped over and stayed here in this nice little village pub! Lovely food ! And super and welcoming! Shout out to Simon and hayley ! We hope to see you guys again ! Me and some friends came to The Sparkford Inn for the drag last and oh what a night. He was fabulous and so much fun. The were so and welcoming and were joining in with all the fun. We also had dinner before hand which was so tasty and came out in such god time considering how busy it looked. I really enjoyed the nachos so much flavour. Thank you again to everyone at The Sparkford for such a fantastic night. We hope you out more nights on like this. Nice carvery, good choice of dessert, sat in the dining room, very pleasant. friendly. Only thing I would change is the confusion over the menu that says a small portion available but isn't. Overall though great value for money and would go back thank you Very and helpful. I was running late because of bad weather and traffic, so missed the carvery. However, the chef still had some in the kitchen and made me up a wonderful plateful. Thank you so much. We only stayed one but it was an overall pleasant experience. Parking outside the room, nice and spacious (we had a family room and there was ample space to set up a cot and have our toddler in a seperate bed). My toddler explored under our bed and unfortunately found some old rubbish there and I noticed some black mould on the ceiling in the corner of the bathroom but apart from that we had no issues. Check in and out was quick and hassle-free. We went to the Newt and the Navy fleet arm museum which were both nearby. Really enjoyed our visit to this pub. The are very welcoming and extremely dog friendly. The food was amazing and a great price too. We held our wedding at Sparkford Inn. Louise (the Manager) and Simon (Chef) were amazing and really went above and beyond to make our day really special. We have returned exactly a year later to celebrate our first Anniversary. As before, Louise and Simon were wonderfull as were the newer staff, Alison and Izzy, going the extra mile to make the day memorable. Lovely food and drink and beautiful bedrooms. We have just had a function at The SPARKFORD Inn. Evening do with food and then a stay and breakfast. I just can’t believe how well we have been looked after! Absolutely amazing. Food delicious and plentiful, rooms brilliant, breakfast absolutely superb! It’s an 11 out of 10 - just top notch! Thank You so much! We love coming here, the are so and welcoming. Nothing is ever to much trouble! The food is amazing not just how it tastes but the presentation to detail and the value for money is second to none! I can’t recommend this place enough! I would just like to say a massive thank you to the for always making our trip the most enjoyable experience! After a very disappointing Christmas Day meal (we left before dessert) we were told we would receive a phone call to discuss the following day. A phone call wasn’t received but being Boxing Day, we understood it was a busy time and trusted someone would call once things had settled. We then completed the feedback survey and asked for someone to call us to discuss our experience but a week on, we have still not received a phone call. We appreciate what a difficult day Christmas Day was for the working but having set out our issues within the private feedback survey and having no contact to discuss is very frustrating, especially after paying £70.00 per person. We so much wanted to post a high score for the Christmas Day meal. The setting despite overcrowded & cramped was lovely and pleasant but that’s where it sadly ended, we can only assume the lack of was the ultimate reason for the poor experience. We have already posted feedback without acknowledgment or reply, but all in all, we had no welcome or instruction, the wait times for drinks and food courses were ridiculously slow, the 25 minute queue for the mediocre carvery was disappointing. If we had not paid up front we would have challenged the £70 each cost, but after being there longer than what we expected we just wanted to get home😥. The barman was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to help us. It was particularly busy as it was Father’s Day but he still found space for us for food, which was excellent. All in all a fantastic pub, very dog and visitor and will be one of the reasons we return to Sparkford in our camper can.
