Large hard standing car park, free, for about 50 cars, although be aware of the approach as it is a single track with a few passing places. No amenities here Superb forest, loads of tracks and routes, some of which are signposted to make a route and will suit all abilities with excellent around every corner Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area Lovely along the peaks. Great path and great views. Car is ok for the camper. One of my favourite walks, those steps dont get any easier though! Lovely on a clear day. Good car park, gravelled, single lane to get there, have to be careful. Space for 30 cars. Good place to start the ridge walk, as well paved from the off. Lush. That is all. It's not an easy to the top if you're not that mobile but I managed to drag my 52 year old ass up there with my dogs and its worth the effort. Great and an all round lovely place. Do it. Free parking, can get a bit boggy in the colder weather but that's to be expected. Brilliant access to around the trails. Would definitely recommend. Narrow from Rothbury to the free car park. No toilets. Great waymarked up the hills. Sturdy footwear required. Steep climb for the last part onto the moors at the top (although you can miss the highest point out and take an obvious lower track). Great views. Lovely back through the forest to the car park. Well worth a visit for an energetic walk. Fantastic well sign posted walks. it would be hard to get lost without a map or compass. Google also shows the paths if you managed to wander off Done ridge can be done at 1h 45m to 2h 45m depending on your experience. Stunning place for a and to get peace of mind. So many trails to that one day is not enough. Pretty easy, thus families are welcome. Car is free too which is handy. Gorgeous thus definitely will go back again. What a great place. We did the ridge in approx 2 hours. Arrived at 7pm and only saw 4 other people the whole time. Amazing at the top! Lovely walk. Although we weren't expecting it to be quite as strenuous as it was in some places but we'd never walked it before. Beautiful scenery from the top and the surroundings are fantastic. Plenty of parking too. Ok, so it's beautiful here, stunning views. However, it's steep, steep, super steep in places. Not for inexperienced nor unfit walkers (nor me several months after a hip replacement). Lovely walks, but off a pretty horrendous narrow road! Stunning walk, after an extremely heavy rainfall I wouldn't suggest it from this carpark or the at the top. It was extremely wet at the top. Most beautiful and easily done for a starter too if new to the outdoors Not sure if this review is for the car or the walk? Either way, is fantastic, rather easy not too many scrambles and a rather flat steady incline for the most part. Spectacular views. Plenty of rocks and places to shield from the wind once at the top if you fancy a picnic. The car could do with a dog poo bin though. Quite easy to find. Plenty of spaces. (Unless on busy weekends / bank holidays) Be mindful of very narrow roads (can only pass one car) so drive slowly and be ready to brake anytime. I drove here just recently and the car from the opposite direction was driving at full speed with his girlfriend next to him and didn't seem ready to stop 🤦🏻♀️. I had to harsh brake my car. Took couple of minutes to restart my car as my car sank slightly into the mud due to the emergency braking. That idiot had the audacity to be fling his hands in the air while making swearing gestures. God bless. Wishing y'all a more pleasant journey and more respectful drivers around you. Great place to start for a up simonside crags and through the woods Good. Single track coming in check which way Google sends you. No loo's. Two main trail loops but several other paths litter the area. Green takes you along a gravel path and whereas red will require sturdy footwear. You can get to the peak easily enough in trainers using the other trails and roads. Good route and all marked out, nice view points along the way good amount of parking too Scenic easily accessible by Rothbury.
