(Ps it's hard to park here) You can climb right up on the tops of the walls and see the amazing views around. Totally to go to at any time of day. Very cool ruins! Originally built for the Prince of Wales. It has a nice view of the surrounding town as well. Parked in lot on high street. Short to entrance. Follow steps and stay to the right to reach the castle. Rebaptisé Queen's Hope, il fut saboté lors de la rébellion de Dafydd en 1282, puis reconstruit. Détruit par un incendie en 1283, il ne fut jamais restauré. A great start to the New Year to blow off the Christmas blues to visit native Welsh stone built by Dafydd ap Gruffydd in about 1278 with a up a hill. Following his revolt against Edward I the was damaged and later repaired by Master James of St George. It was granted to Edwards wife Eleanor in 1283 but was damaged by fire and was used little after that. What is so fantastic about the old ruins is the little details that you can find if you take your time and have a good look around. There is still a fair bit to see, and there is a new information board that gives you a good idea of what it would have looked like in its hayday. If you do a bit of reading you will find that this played quite an important part in the history of Wales. The up to the ruins is easy enough and only takes 5 minutes. There is parking next to the pub just be careful crossing the road it is busy at times. There is a car park very near the bottom and the is also all year round. Its a nice up, short and steep. Only takes 10 or 15 minutes to get up. The is now only a small ruin but still worth a visit. It had just the 1 information board that i noticed. Nice ruin, not extensive but easily accessible and good to explore. In a good location on a small above the town. Worth the short climb and I was lucky enough to have it all to myself on a sunny day!
