Great experience, must go when exploring the region! We did the guided with bites. We had a good guide, the was never boring. You get to taste the and rice pies, and at the end you can carve something out of the stones of the cave yourself. Very interesting, perfect activity for a rainy day. The temperature inside the cave is always between 10 and 12 degrees, so make sure to bring a jacket if you go during summer. Perfect place to visit on a hot day! Our was really great too. The right mix of information and jokes. Definitely worth a visit! The mines themselves are quite interesting from a historical perspective, and the continued use for mushroom cultivation. There's even a small chapel back in the part we visited. Some unique 'cave paintings' of various dinosaurs in the 'museum'. There are very cool carvings in the walls along the way. And their local isn't bad either - they offer a glass halfway through the (soft drinks and water also available). Fairly accessible for those with lower mobility. We saw someone with a walker, but not sure how well a wheelchair could maneuver some of the exhibits. Although I think it might be doable for most parts. A limestone quarry that is dark and cold, has been converted to a museum after dinosaur bones were found. The beers are good, the mushroom farming is very interesting. The Grotten van Kanne was amazing and very detailed. Our wonderful Ger led us through the massive caves and educated us on the process, reasoning, and scale of constructing the caves, as well as the deep history within. He was very knowledgeable about the happenings within the caves and very funny as well! We also stopped within a mushroom growing area and he told us of the process. You can buy mushrooms (Champignon) there as well. During the there is also a tasting with a custom made for the cave (Mosasaurus) which was delicious and light. You can also buy additional during the tour. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area or just nearby! Very nice place only ~8km from Maastricht. Be prepared for the in Dutch. The was very friendly. They make in the caves, grow mushrooms, have a chapel and very many nice paintings on the walls. Be prepared for long walk and do not forget to tip the guide😉 Only Dutch. No English. Very humidity and cold. I need to wear good. Inside their are proposing bear and mushrooms. All I excursion about 3 hours. Fascinating and surprising guided that exceeded my expectations. There’s a lot to discover inside. I especially appreciated the museum and the tasting. Warmly recommend! 10/10 for our Lucas B. Always a nice 11°C underground, the takes you on a journey filled with several nice anecdotes over the course of an hour and a half. The local mushrooms were great, the is perhaps an acquired taste. Very happy with the tour. We we're offered a apple at the beginning of the visit, a glass of another beer, cheese and sausage in the middle of the and at the end a slice of a very good pie. Me and my son liked all that we saw. Impressive galleries. Nice host. Was a super interesting in the cave. The Wilfred told us many stories. We also had a chance to proef some of unique and buy some mushrooms. Was worth it!
