A popular stopping point for walkers, cyclists, and those travelling along the A590, thanks to the delicious food and the wide range of real ales. Family and dog friendly, well worth a visit Large hard standing car park Beer gardens to the side and rear Food served daily, excellent service, decent price for food and drinks What a stunning Sunday dinner, roast beef and veg superbly roasted. Lamb and veg pie had superb short crust pastry, not flaky pastry just plopped on top like some prick and ping establishments. Absolutely worth every penny.’ It Was a gastronomic experience What a meal. The pie of the day was lamb, lentils and mint...wow! Red snapper on the menu, which Julie loved. A atmosphere, first class food, super service. A gem. We were staying in a nearby camp site and popped in for dinner on both nights! The food was incredible, lovely staff and atmosphere! Also super dog friendly!!! I'm sad we don't live closer, I want more of the mushroom ravioli! We stayed at the local campsite and ate at The Derby Arms in the evening and then for Mother’s Day breakfast. The food was lovely , we enjoyed fish and chips and a full English in the morning. The meats were sourced locally and the curly sausage was the best I have ever had. The pub is dog friendly so is good for walkers to call in for a bite to eat or a pint. Toilets were very clean The young man who served us was very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Absolutely delicious Sunday roast with really friendly and welcoming staff. Booking recommended for lunch in busy periods. Would definitely return. I booked a meal for 10 tonight for a work do. We had a problem with two people being late but nothing was too much trouble for them and still accommodated us. The food was amazing, large portions and well cooked. Not one person had the slightest negative. I am going to visit with family next as it is amazing Roast dinner with a group….not a experience sadly. The vegetables were ok but the meat quality was inconsistent especially the lamb. I could barely extract a single mouthful of tasty, sinew-free meat from the 2 slices provided. Some of the beef was tough & the Yorkshires were universally burnt. Mint sauce and Horseradish were not offered. Fish & chips appeared to be frozen. Such a shame for a special occasion and not cheap. Just back from an overnight stay. If you want a boutique pub/hotel then this won't be for you, but if you, like us, want somewhere that is reasonably priced with staff who are very welcoming added to that amazing food then do stay here. We ended up going back for a Sunday roast on route home because the food was so nice. A choice of beers too 👍 That was Cumberland Sausage, best sausage I ever had! Nduja mac and cheese starter was almost a main. Excellent country inn!
