The Albion

Lancaster, United Kingdom Pub

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. The Albion is privileged to have one of THE very best locations imaginable...right on the edge of a tidal estuary. It is a gorgeous place to watch a warm sun go down. On the downside, it's a brewery-owned pub and heavily seasonal versus its average costs (obviously). Sadly, when it's as busy as it'd like to be, the service and food quality drift. We 3 chose a mixture of starters and some salads, which sounded nice. The starters were barely edible (but we were hungry). The squid bits starter was terribly greasy to the point of being unpleasant. The prawn one seemed to have little and thin sections of prawn inside the greasy batter. The duck rolls were crisp to the exterior but only a warm mush inside. The salads looked good on first view but, on further examination, flattered to deceive. There was only modest chicken on that and a lot of small crumbles of feta and few olives on the Greek one. Nice promenade location with outdoor seating overlooking the estuary. Good selection of ales, wines and spirits. I have been to this pub on and off many times over the years living not too far away and it has always been a lovely place to enjoy a couple of pints with friends but on our visit this evening the girl behind the bar announced with 40 minutes warning that she was locking up at 9:30pm despite the closing time being the usual advertised 11:30pm. I appreciate the pub was quiet but closing up 2 hours early because you want to go home isn't necessarily good for business as there were customers in and we ended up feeling rushed to finish our drinks. Absolutely fantastic country pub. Very warm welcome from all the and customers alike. Food was excellent with very large proportions and yet very reasonably priced. And the beer was very good too. Lovely pub well worth a visit Lovely pub with really very good food. Though on one occasion I watched my lunch do a tour of the outdoor terrace, before it arrived back indoors in front of me. Luckily it was a sandwich and hadn't gone cold. Other than that we've eaten here twice and spent last night having a few drinks with our holiday UNO tournament. Very highly recommended. Lovely too. Lovely pub in a fantastic setting with great views of the shoreline. The beer on tap was very pleasant and easy drinking! The food was enjoyable, plentiful and reasonably priced with plenty of choice. The young lady who served us was very helpful and friendly, we highly recommend and would certainly return. We visited this weekend just gone as a day trip to Arnside. This was a lovely pub, as others have said, and amazing view. The were very friendly and the food was excellent and well priced. I will admit the veterans discount caught me off guard as not many places do this, so it was great to see. Will visit again. My wife and I had Sunday lunch, the service was great with attentive who were very friendly. Unfortunately the food wasn't to our liking. The beef was extremely thinly sliced, (not sure if it was delivered to the kitchen like that), also the chicken was very dry, and the veg was quite tasteless. I'm not entirely sure if the mashed potato was made from scratch, but the roast potatoes, gravy and Yorkshire pudding were fine. The beer was well kept and very nice, and fairly priced. We would return, but not just for food, as they are dog friendly and as I said, the were nice and the drinks are fairly priced. I visited The Albion today with friends ,such a lovely spot! The were super friendly, and it’s great that the place is dog-friendly. They even have a cute dog inside who welcomed us in! Had the Sunday roast and a beer, and both were absolutely delicious and well-priced. A perfect place to chill, enjoy good food, and relax. Definitely coming back again! 🐾🍽️🍺 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
