We visited on a Sunday and were able to stroke an owl and a tortoise, with plenty more to see and also a bearded dragon and goats. Some of the enclosures could do with a bit of love but it's definitely a £5-£10 donation. The shop was a bit empty but has a nice range of handmade and owl themed bits and bobs and a nice charity shop vibe. Also sells bottles/ cans of pop. There is an Aldi and a MacDonalds within easy driving distance. Car park area is small but plenty of parking on the hill. Maps will tell you to turn off into a sort of close of very large houses and go past the end one - you can just stay straight on the road through a gate to get to where you need to be. The road is narrow but there is a particularly large passing place about half way. Alternatively, you can park at the bottom of the hill and walk, which probably wouldn't take more than 15 minutes. A fantastic little place, and definitely an hour or two of your time. Be careful that sat nav doesn't take you to the old festival park site as there is no from that end. The volunteers who run this sanctuary clearly love the and do a fantastic job, but don't go there expecting a big commercial venue, it is a small hidden away gem that looks very much in need of funding and they rely on as there is no fee charged. I would definitely recommend a here and please be generous with your so that they can continue the work they are doing for these beautiful birds. What they are doing here is great, small and doesn't take long to see all of the birds, but they also bring 1-2 out to meet the visitors. My kids loved it. Support Thai Charity I was absolutely blown away by how many beautiful of prey we saw today, so many and the most beautiful Steppe Eagle! I highly recommend a and a charity donation to help them keep feeding and taking care of the feathered beauties who live there. The are so friendly and and the goats on site will sing to you the entire time!! Good couple of hours out, not big but plenty of and eagles to see. are lovely, This is the best place I've ever been to. There are a lot of different types of owls, and we even saw a few eagles and falcons too! All the volunteers were and helpful. They don't push for but you definitely should give what you can as all these are well looked after 😊 I went with my 1 year old baby in a sling carrier. Despite the cold wet weather we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I parked by the lake and walked up but you can drive right up. Not buggy friendly but that’s ok. The are all very healthy looking and some were hooting which my boy loved, and the seemed to enjoy our company. We left a good donation to help keep the place running. were friendly. I highly recommend it and will return in the summer. My daughters most favourite place in the world. She loves and you can see the there are so loved and cared for. The are so knowledgeable and clearly care a deal for the birds. Feel absolutely blessed to have this nearby Owl sanctuary is a little place and what they do for the birds/animals is amazing, but if you're driving more than 15/20 minutes I'd make sure you have other stuff planned to do around the area as well. The were lovely, very friendly, talkative and knowledgeable. Only real downside was it was quite awkward to get to and there were not many parking spaces. It's very rustic, google maps took us the 'scenic' route (it was actually very scenic) to find it, and our route was momentarily barred by a miniature horse....but it was 100% it. They explained that this sanctuary is run by volunteers, the are often exotic pets that ignorant owners just couldn't handle, and they survive on kind donations. It's a wonderful, supremely pretty and educational day out FOR FREE, but go donate what you can to something actually worthwhile whilst having a day out in nature. P.s. apparently Lord Evan (huge grey owl) and the goats have some sort of gripe, so the internal feather vs hoof politics are amusing too. I'm guessing the goats said something rude... When you're done, there is place to picnic there but we went 2 minutes down the road to the beautiful fishing lake because it was chilly under the tree canopy. Space for kids to run, air deliciously clean, sun warming us up whilst we sat on one of many benches munching ham rolls. And flowers everywhere. Serenity at its best. Brought my partner here as she’s obsessed with Owls! The are well looked after and the are really friendly! We lost track of time and ended up staying 20 minutes past the closing time of the sanctuary and the were really understanding and didn’t rush us out! Really recommend visiting this sanctuary.
