Did a short on this easy flat trail recently on a wintry bright Sunday - towards Princes Hwy. Ibises were basking in the warmth & the boat humming along made for a nice walk. Limited carpark at loop of Mitchell Port Rd with covered Bbq, toilet & launching pontoon. The trail towards A1 Princes Highwy bridge is 15 mins return same way - goes through a green "tunnel". The view overlooking the from this higher bridge is scenic - just blot out the buzz of traffic. This afternoon, I decided to do the entire Mitchell circuit starting from the Wood Street end near TAFE Gippsland Bairnsdale. I've done parts of this several times over the past year but this was my first time doing the whole loop in one recording. There were a couple of parts that I haven't done on previous visits including the short walking track from the area where the Grey Headed Flying Foxes roost to the Mitchell Lind Bridge. Being a late Tuesday afternoon, the weather was a perfect 26 degrees and sunny. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of walking along this track despite how popular it is with locals in Bairnsdale. There's so much to appreciate and take in from boardwalks to gravel paths to scenic views of the Mitchell River, many spots to have a picnic, lots of different plants and trees (English Ivy, Oriental Plane, Australian Cheesewood, Common Knotgrass), lovely birdlife, learning about Aboriginal heritage and more. Very nice easy along the river. Easy gradient and well maintained path. The golden wattle were beautiful Really nice walk! Very smoothing and relaxing, there are ample of sitting spots where you can sit down and enjoy nature. Lots of dustbins too, so you can do your picnic and not worry about disposal A beautiful along the Mitchell river. Plenty of parking and picnic tables make it a great spot to bring down your lunch and soak in the lovely scenery. Autumn is particularly special as the trees lining the path display an array of beautiful colours to enjoy as you stroll along the water's edge. Good walking track along the banks. Water n washroom facilities. Locals also fancy a swim. Water was very tempting on a 30+day but did not have change cloths with me. Great place to just relax and appreciate mother nature. Great place to with many different starting points. There are tables and benches along the track, with toilets at the Port of Bairnsdale and Howitt Park (on the hill near the playground). The Port of Bairnsdale also has a shelter with tables and two public bbqs. There is generally plenty of birdlife and usually fruit bats although they sometimes leave in the winter months. Lovely, mostly flat with easy access. Toilets block at the beginning of the and drinking water spouts at various intervals during the walk. Bat migration was lovely to see as well. Organised crime in East Gippsland will not have the upper hand. I reflect with my fellow brothers and sister along the banks of the Mitchell River. Ever since the path had been blocked off, I have made my new home here in Bairnadale. Here, my paramount struggle against injustice continues. I promise you fellow countrymen, the night is darkest right before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming. You always fear what you don't understand. I can be that hero Bairnsdale deserves, but not the hero it needs right now. Your silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. Lovely place to by the water and in nature. Great place to meet others and have a picnic. A fantastic spot for a morning or an evening stroll. During our evening visit in March, we caught sight of a massive camp of flying foxes—a truly mesmerizing experience. Along the river, we also came across wild fennel bushes and edible berries, adding to the charm of the walk. Very nice and pleasant and the BoB was nowhere to be seen which added greatly to the ambience Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
