Visited this airfield with someone I know who is doing their PPL. Seems like a good place for PPL training but also for just for a day out with as they have a play for kids. Outdoor Seating with tables. However dogs off lead are a nuisance. Cafe on site they make nice iced coffee. Great place to see helicopters and airplanes. They have a playground for and many toys. 🧸 Baby change is huge and it has a shower too. In a cafe they have also toys for so you can enjoy your hot chocolate while baby is playing. Summer Event is a brilliant day out for all the family. So we'll organised and the staff are really friendly, helpful and welcoming 😎 We attended as part of a large group. Lovely place, clean and lots of seating inside and out. Ample free parking. I had full English breakfast (£9.50). Not massive portions, but acceptable. I asked if I could swap the grilled tomato for something else and the answer was "no", so a little inflexible. I sat outside and watched the planes on the air field while I ate. Overall a pleasant experience. This place is awesome! Another gem I've only just discovered. Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Good tasty choices of food for big and small appetites, and yummy dessert options too. Love that you can sit outside eat, drink and play whilst watching the planes. The play has so much to do for kids. Connect 4, giant Jenga, climbing frame in the shape of a plane, sandpit, balance bikes, slide and giant plastic lego-style pieces. Such a great planes for those either interested in planes, watching the world go by or looking for somewhere to entertain the kids! Digbys cafe had just opened when we visited. They had a reduced menu while they find their feet as the menu said. However the breakfast was huge & the view across the airfield was very good. There is a play on the outside seating so plenty to see while you are having your food & drink. Will be there again to sample the full menu in a few weeks time.. Went yesterday for a flight experience. Absolutely fantastic. Have to say all the staff were friendly, the bar staff always smiling, food was delicious. Beautiful outdoor viewing area. The flight itself was amazing I was allowed to make some turns, and I want to mention our instructor, Vernon who was 10/10. So professional, put us all at ease, and landed without a bump. Definitely going again, even considering getting my PPL. Thanks guys 😊. I booked a trial flight for my husband, in his 80's at the time, a few years ago. We actually went to the airfield, in the depths of winter, to book it. As we got near he said aren't we near that little airfield. It was only then that I told him that that was our destination. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. While a lovely young man showed him around the small planes that were parked outside, I discussed what I wanted with a young woman. It was only then that I realised that if I booked a 4 seater I could accompany him. The actual flight, which we took when the weather improved, was "the best experience of his life", he still says.
