Timeless, historical, interesting, scenic and an absolute delight to visit. Really helpful staff, particularly Mike, one of the guards, what a friendly and knowledgeable guy he is. Very passionate about the railway and trains. Cafe was really nice too. Definitely worth a visit. I'll definitely visit again. Great stop, a downhill walk, about 15 mins reaches the lake. Many walks through the woods back to the staion, allow about 20-30mins for the walk uphill to the station, where a cup of tea in the cafe is a great idea! All dog freindly. Very much enjoyed the ride and saw some beautiful Welsh scenery. A recommended place to visit. Suggestion: get out and bus back It’s a pretty line but they leave you in Porthmaddog for 2+ hours and there’s really not much there worth seeing. Slightly shabby Welsh town. I’d get a one way and bus back - control own timetable and see something different on way back. Also massively reduces the cost. Great experience on these beautiful narrow gauge trains. We travelled from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog and it was a enjoyable trip. Plenty of time in Porthmadog for a walk around and some lunch. Staff very pleasant and helpful the only downside for me is the entitled morons who thought it acceptable to sit in parties of 1 or 2 on 4 seat tables. Our was dog friendly which allowed us to take our girl with us. I stumbled across this whilst driving to Portmeirion. I soon turned around and what a joy this lovely railway is! I met Keith, one of the volunteers at Minffordd station who helped me with all the info I needed to catch a ride. While waiting I learnt so much about the history of the track and just how much work and passion the volunteers do. The ride up to Tan-y-bwich was sublime, even though it was raining. I’m writing this at the cafe waiting for my return sojourn. I’m no serious fan, but I do love a narrow gauge ride, no matter where it be! Thank you so much to all of the volunteers! And special thanks to Keith and the guard of my ride, top gents who helped make a rainy grey day into a joy during my holiday. If you’re after something special to do, and get some beautiful views, DO THIS!!! Beautifully maintained heritage trains and carriages. Journey up through the trees to a lovely woodland walk. Dog friendly carriages. The staff that run this railway are amazing. The journey was spectacular, scenery was out of this world . I loved every minute ❤️ Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
