The premises are well maintained and they are very knowledgeable people and their lot has a good collection of vintage cars too! Great experience, wonderful atmosphere. Do your homework on a car before going down though if it’s sold as seen the responsibility is on the buyer to decide whether it’s a good choice or not. 👍 I was interested in a Ford Mustang auctioned on 30th October 2025. In the week prior to the I asked for the VIN . It indicated that the car was clearly a C code 289 2 Bbl, and not a 302. There was no dubiety here - anyone can check this 8R01C128276. This matters on a number of levels not least that they made great play of it being a 302 as opposed to stating it was simply a 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe. The cars were never sold as such when new - engines were optioned by the buyer, not specified as a model. Of course the vendor may not have known, or had always assumed, wrongly, it was a 302, or indeed the car could have had an upgraded engine . I asked the question several times to no avail. Thus, I suggest the car was effectively auctioned on a misleading description. The house cannot not rely on saying ‘the vendor told us’ as any half wit can access a code analyser on any number of sites, or by merely inputting the VIN into the Hagerty vehicle identifier site, and it identifies it as a 289 engine. Given a 302 commands a premium of around 10-15%, on a like for like basis, this misrepresentation is material. A little due diligence was required surely! Having repeatedly asked the same question in a very, very polite and patient manner, this company did not disabuse me or explain - they just ignored the whole thing. No reply. My understanding is that houses who knowingly misrepresent lots are liable under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Misrepresentation Act 1967. The irony here is that I was genuinely trying to help. I was wishing to bid on the car and whether it was a 289 or a 302 was not an issue in terms of overall interest, but it would and should inform the sale price . A 302 is more sought after as in automatic guise it has more torque and 35bhp extra. If I was the successful buyer I’d be very unhappy. Needless to say I baled out as the cars provenance was unclear. Maybe this company will hide behind ‘caveat emptor’ - but my question should have raised a legitimate concern and lead to clarity. They chose not to for reasons which are not hard to imagine. Very poor. Bought my Ford Focus Estate for a steal, it might be an 'oldie' but what a great car, full Ford service history and only needed a couple of things done to it, still does 30mpg suits my every need, staff very helpful, long way from home, but who's complaining. What an amazing company . I bought a 1976 T2 camper van as a present for my wife for her birthday. I explained that I wanted to bring her down and surprise her with it and they went over and above to make sure it was such a special surprise. They even put a huge bow on it ! I couldn't recommend SWVA any higher. Absolutely unreal and so so kind. Thanks so much to all. I’ve been using this for around 15 years. It’s owned and ran by a great team of people. I always look forward to Darren’s banter and one liners; they always bring smiles to the hall. The quality of the cars are normally good and you get ample opportunity to view the them before the auction. It’s even possible to get keys and run the cars up, which gives you a much better idea of what you’re buying. Personally I miss the old site because the indoors cafe was a great place to hide from the winter weather. But the new burger van is the absolute business, which makes up for the loss of the cafe. The food is locally sourced and not the usual cheap rubbish and is well priced. The train station is only a 10-15 minute walk away which is really handy when I haven’t got use of a recovery truck. An excellent service. Experienced advise re level of proposed reserve price which was exceed on the day of the sale. The car was collected from home and the whole process went very smoothly. Would certainly recommend them. Excellent service from start to finish. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. A good experience all round. Definitely would buy from SWVA again.
